Welcome Aboard!
Thank you for visiting my new website, Radical Compliance. I suppose we should start by asking the first question likely to be on your mind—what the heck is all this?
This website is something I have wanted to launch for a while now: my personal views on corporate compliance, audit, and risk management. I care about these subjects deeply, since I’ve written or spoken about them for years, and consider the “compliance industrial complex” an endlessly fascinating world. There is plenty to discuss here, and plenty of ways compliance and audit professionals can work together to improve how they do their jobs and how their businesses run. I’d like to be part of that.
Some of you may know me from the 12 years I worked at Compliance Week (10 of them as editor), a fine publication well worth reading by anyone in the field. None of what I post here should be taken to represent the views of Compliance Week, since I no longer work there. I do wish the magazine well.
This blog will be more of a running commentary on the compliance world specifically and the business world in general; it will not be a news website like you might find elsewhere. Everything you see on this site is free. The vast majority of it will simply be what I consider interesting and worth a compliance officer’s attention. Some material here will be deeply penetrating insight, I’m sure; some of it will be garbage; some of it will be goofy, fun stuff to help all of us get through a day in the life of a compliance or audit executive—which can sometimes be a difficult thing to do.
I welcome any feedback people have about what’s here. Feel free to reach me on email ([email protected]) or Twitter (@compliancememe), or any of the other ways listed on the Contact page. I’m always up for gossip and will protect the confidentiality of anyone who wants it. I’m always ready to get acquainted with a compliance or audit executive who just wants to talk shop. If you have an event you want to publicize or a website you want me to add to my list of Resources, let me know.
As you can also see on the About page, I make my money from working with private clients on writing projects, industry research, and other consulting services. The money I make there lets me post my thoughts here. (So if you have one of those projects where you’d like my thoughts, contact me.) Posting my thoughts here helps to gain the attention I need to secure those projects. It’s a nice virtuous circle, or at least I hope it will be. So expect me to post quite a number of thoughts here.
Above all, I want Radical Compliance to be useful to the compliance and audit world. If I am not measuring up to that standard, tell me how I can, and I’ll do it. I look forward to talking with you.
