Compliance Jobs News
We start with Washington: Walter Shaub is resigning as head of the Office of Government Ethics, to take a job as senior director for ethics at the Campaign Legal Center. Shaub had been director of OGE since 2013. Fans of Shaub can follow him on Twitter or join a Facebook page devoted to him.
Shire Pharmaceuticals has named Narguiz Birk-Petersen senior director and head counsel for Eurasia, Middle East, and Africa; she will work out of Dubai. Birk-Petersen previously spent nearly five years at Novo Nordisk in various legal and compliance roles.
Jeff Wu promoted to general manager of internal control and audit at Haier Group. Wu previously had been director of global internal control and audit, and has been with Haier since 2013. Wu is also considered one of the funniest compliance officers in Shanghai.
Real estate firm Jones Lang Lasalle has promoted Aline Assis Coloni, from chief legal counsel for greater Latin America to national director for Latin America. Coloni has been with JLL in various compliance roles since 2007.
Castle & Cooke Mortgage, an independent mortgage lender with locations nationwide, has hired Candice Pitcher as director of compliance. Pitcher will work out of the company’s corporate headquarters in Draper, Utah.
Felipe Kietzman, head of legal and compliance for Alcon’s Brazil operations, just began teaching at Escola Paulista de Direito in Sao Paolo.
Out in San Francisco, Providence St. Joseph Health has named David Lane chief compliance officer. Lane comes to Providence St. Joseph from the University of California, where he was systemwide deputy compliance officer.
SNC-Lavalin has promoted Amee Sandhu to head of compliance operations. Sandhu previously was head of compliance for the firm’s metallurgy and mining sectors. She has been with SNC-Lavalin in various compliance roles since 2013.
In the United Arab Emirates, Divyesh Goyal has been named manager of accounting and internal controls at Melco, a division of the Al Ghurair Group, a family-owned conglomerate working in real estate and other businesses.
And in Edinburgh, Scotland, RBS has promoted Christine Carr from operational risk manager to senior conduct risk manager.
Vendors & Service Providers
Bastian Halbach, last seen at Maersk where he was compliance risk manager for anti-corruption, trade controls, and competition law; just turned up at Deloitte as a manager in its forensics practice in Paris. There are worse places to turn up.
Deloitte has also named Antonia Simpson director of ethics and financial crime, working out of London.
FTI Consulting has named Yaser Dajani senior managing director and leader of its Middle East operations, working from Dubai. Dajani previously was a managing director at Kroll.
Peter Coleman has been named head of the forensics practice at United Security Solutions International, working in Singapore.
Kristin White is celebrating 10 years at Cisco Systems. She is the company’s director of financial controls and risk management.
Doug Cornelius, chief compliance officer at Beacon Capital Partners in Boston, is preparing for the Pan-Mass Challenge, a 150-mile bike ride across Massachusetts to raise money for cancer research. You can support him through his blog, ComplianceBuilding.com. Plus, Cornelius is a good guy.
