Calendar Alert: Compliance Roundtable in NYC

Special alert for compliance and audit executives in New York, fearful that your business is being targeted by money launderers and related thieves! An executive roundtable is happening in a few weeks to let you meet peers and talk about how you’re fighting the threat.

The forum will happen on the morning of Thursday, June 16, sponsored by Exiger and the Risk Assistance Network Exchange. Even better, yours truly will moderate the discussion, and we’ll even have free coffee and breakfast pastries. (This is the same event that was originally planned for last month, but had to be rescheduled.

Attendance is free but seating is limited, and RSVPs are necessary. (We have 20 participants already confirmed so far.) If you would like to attend, you can either contact me directly ([email protected]) or inquire at [email protected].

We can all agree that illicit finance risk is a paramount concern for regulators these days, and consequently a paramount concern for compliance officers too (especially those in financial services). The roundtable will last 90 minutes and try to answer questions like:

  • What is the current legal and regulatory environment around illicit finance, and what does that mean for compliance departments?
  • What role can technology play in fighting illicit financial flows? What specific technologies should CCOs be considering?
  • How do you balance the practical costs of due diligence and compliance, the legal obligations you have, and the need to deliver peace of mind to executives and boards of directors?
  • Can any of this be automated? Or can we bring artificial intelligence to the problem?

I have done all sorts of idea exchange with compliance officers over the years, and none are ever as productive as small, relaxed gatherings like this. So if you’re free on the morning of June 16 and passing through New York, I hope we’ll see you there.
