The head of compliance at Snap has received a field promotion to general counsel; and the chief compliance officer at DaVita Healthcare may be heading to the Justice Department. Deanna Slocum has joined Uber as a director in the legal department working on employment, litigation, government, and investigation matters. She previously was ethics and compliance lead at VMWare.
Word in Denver is that James Hearty, chief compliance officer at DaVita Healthcare, and colleague Richard Hosley, DaVita’s associate general counsel for litigation, are two of four finalists under consideration to be the next U.S. attorney for Colorado. Both men have previous experience as federal prosecutors.
The chief compliance officer at Snap, Dominic Perella, just got a field promotion to interim general counsel. He’s stepping in to replace general counsel Chris Handman, who stepped down from Snap this week after three years. (Perella is also deputy general counsel at Snap.)
In India, Gourav Ladha has joined AB InBev’s India operation working as capability lead in the compliance department there. He comes to AB InBev from EW Consultants, where he worked on compliance software systems.
Global Power Equipment Group, based in Irving, Texas, has promoted Chip Wheelock from deputy general counsel and chief compliance officer to general counsel. He will also keep the chief compliance officer role, so five demerits for that company.
Shane Krugler has left his job as head of corporate compliance and ethics and AML Officer at Ohio National Financial Services, to become managing director at Consurge Compliance and Ethics.
The Bancorp, a vendor to non-bank financial services firms (issuing prepaid cards, for example), just named a slew of executive appointments:
- John Munera, head of financial crimes risk management;
- Matt Dermott, head of third-party risk management;
- Bill Neurohr, head of compliance;
- Greg Garry, chief risk officer; and
- Armondo Burnette, chief audit executive.
In San Antonio, Texas, Siewhiang McCreight has been named chief risk officer at the Auto Club Group, the second-largest AAA club in North America. McCreight previously worked at USAA as executive director of enterprise risk management.
Five Star Bank has named Chris Nowak vice president of the financial intelligence unit and AML/OFAC compliance officer. Nowak previously was senior Bank Secrecy Act analyst and AML/OFCA compliance officer for Evan Bank, in upstate New York.
Alison Olson has joined CHS Inc. as compliance and integrity analyst, after nearly a year as compliance and ethics consultant at Xcel Energy.
Pfizer has hired Cibele Fernandes as compliance director in its Brazil operations. She previously spent three years as compliance officer at Amgen.
Vendors & Service Providers
Customer win: Workiva, a maker of internal control and risk management software, has reeled in CalPERS as a client for its financial reporting software. The California Public Employee Retirement System has $330 billion under management and is one of the largest institutional investors in the United States.
Nicole Sandford, one of my favorite people at Deloitte, has taken a new role as leader of the U.S. regulatory and operational risk practice. She previously headed Deloitte’s enterprise compliance practice.
Milestones
Congratulations to Jessica Blazer, celebrating one year at Teva Pharmaceuticals as senior director and privacy officer for EU and “growth markets.”
