Plus, Facebook is hiring for a few overseas positions, and Fresenius needs an investigator. Read on…

I gather these bits of information from LinkedIn, news alerts, and friends emailing me something to include. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn. This report depends on people like you helping me, so send some news!

Tech Data, a distributor of tech products based in Clearwater, Fla., has made two new hires. AP Capaldo Escandell joins as ethics and compliance officer; she comes to Tech Data from Laureate Education, where she worked as associate general counsel for global ethics and compliance. The firm has also named Krista Muszak global compliance manager; she previously worked at Bristol Myers Squibb overseeing compliance and operational quality.

Nancy Haig, global head of internal audit and compliance at Alvarez & Marsal, has been named to the North America board of directors for the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Camilla Marie Thiele, previously CSR and compliance manager for shipping business Norden, has joined Monitor Deloitte as manager. She is based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

CGI Federal has named Jennifer Nestor director of ethics and compliance. She comes to the government contractor from BAE systems, where she had been director of ethics and business conduct for three years. Nestor is based in Washington.

PNC has named Steven Engel senior vice president, working in the bank’s business risk office. Engel comes to the Pittsburgh bank from PwC, where he was a director in the financial services risk practice.

In Dallas, oil services company Thermon has named Brad Cowger director of internal audit. Cowger previously was chief audit executive of CIBER. Thermon makes equipment to trace sources of heat in large structures.

For whatever reason, we also have an unusually large number of personnel news from Brazil this week…

João Adalberto Elek, head of governance and compliance at the always-troubled Petrobras, has been suspended amid allegations that he awarded an $8 million no-bid contract to Deloitte while his daughter was interviewing for a job at the firm. The board suspended Elek this week; no word yet on what happens next.

Down in Rio de Janeiro, Flavia Jordy has joined Seguradora Líder-DPVAT as compliance analyst. She comes to the insurance firm from UnitedHealth Group, where she was a compliance auditor.

In nearby Sao Paolo, Janssen Pharmaceutical Cos. (a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson) has promoted Carolina Florenbaum: from healthcare compliance senior manager to regional healthcare compliance officer.

Also in Sao Paolo, Tiago Augusto Duarte has a new job as associate director of compliance for Standard Chartered Bank. He previously worked at MUFG as senior compliance analyst.

Nextel Brazil has promoted Rodrigo Freire from compliance counsel to senior compliance counsel.

Vendors & Service Providers

SAI Global has renamed a few of its products, to keep in step with the “360” branding theme it likes to use. Cintellate, its product to manage EHS risks, will henceforth be known as EHS Manager 360— which, I think we can all agree, is a marked improvement over “Cintellate.” IT Risk Manager will be known as Digital Manager 360. Both products will dovetail with SAI’s flagship compliance product, which has been sensibly named Compliance 360 for years.

Lateral move: Jim Barrett, previously managing director at FTI Consulting, just moved to Ankura Consulting for a gig with the same title.

Milestones

Joseph D’Agostino is celebrating one year as director of governance, risk and compliance at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Cristina van Elgort is celebrating one year as auditor at Conifer Health Solutions in Modesto, Calif.

Lacey Ellis is celebrating five years as senior corporate counsel at Flextronics.

Aziz Azizov is celebrating five years as senior legal and regulatory counsel at Dufry, a clothing retailer, for Russia and Eastern Europe.

Open Req Orders

Facebook is staffing up its compliance operations in a few overseas offices. The company is looking to hire compliance managers in Mexico City for Latin America operations, and either Hong Kong or Singapore for its APAC operations. (You do follow Radical Compliance on Facebook already, of course.)

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking a senior director of compliance investigations, audit, and data analytics, which sounds like a cool job.

The law firm Orrick is recruiting a risk and compliance counsel to work in its operations center in Wheeling, W. Va.
