Cannabics Pharmaceuticals, a biotech firm developing cancer treatments and palliative care drugs based on weed, has named Yasha Borstein the firm’s new chief data officer. In that role, Borstein will develop a data governance policy for the company to manage its healthcare compliance needs. Cannabics is based jointly (see what I did there?) in Israel and Maryland.

Defense contractor Huntington Ingalls has promoted its head of internal audit, Scott Stabler, to chief transformation officer. Stabler’s primary job will be to work with Huntington’s operation divisions on digital and supply chain transformation, and he’ll oversee internal audit on an interim basis until a permanent new chief audit executive is named. Stabler has been with the company since 1984.
Bayer has promed Ayesha Jones. She had been head of law and compliance for the Middle East region, based in Dubai; she is now senior legal counsel, working in Basel, Switzerland.
In Norway, Anders Meex Hvashovd has been named global ethics and compliance manager for DNO ASA, an oil company with principal operations in Africa and the Middle East. Hvashovd, who has the coolest name in all of Europe, joins DNO after 14 months as head of compliance for TechnipFMC and a decade at FMC Technologies before that.
Lisa Kershner-Urbine has joined MAS ACME as manager of risk governance and financial operations. Kershner-Urbine comes to the company, an apparel maker based in Europe, after more than 10 years running SOX compliance and internal audit at Krispy Kreme.

And the chief compliance officer of ABLV Bank in Latvia resigned this week, days after U.S. regulators accused the bank of participating in a money-laundering scheme to aid North Korea. Aleksandrs Pāže left “on his own initiative, from the best corporate and moral principles,” bank CEO Ernests Bernis said in a statement. Indeed.
