Dispatches From SCCE 2018
As noted in our last post, the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics is hosting its annual conference in Las Vegas this week. This time yours truly is on scene, along with more than 1,700 corporate ethics and compliance professionals.
I’ll have other in-depth posts later this week and next about some of the issues and discussions raised at the conference. Until then, as always, here are some dispatches from social media so you can catch up on what you may have missed.
The conference began Sunday night with the annual tailgate welcome reception, where everyone is supposed to wear the jersey of their favorite teams. Alas, my Mud Hens jersey was at the dry cleaners.
I enjoyed myself at @SCCE Tailgate Reception at the 17th Annual Compliance and Ethics Institute. My network is increasing with CEP Bears fans too. #SCCEcei pic.twitter.com/ZxstaojYLq

A scene from the Monday morning keynote session. I dare you to bust out these moves next time you meet with the Justice Department.

I’m going to start doing this too.
Presentation by @TedBanks ended with a picture of bacon. No better way to leave a good impression on the audience. 👍👍 @SCCE #SCCEcei

Ouch. An effective way to make a point, although I suspect most senior compliance officers do have passports.
Great point made today – how many US Compliance professionals have “international” in their titles, but have no passport? Understanding culture is vitally important to global compliance programs. #sccecei

I always say artificial intelligence is the compliance officer’s friend. There is too much risk to manage and not enough natural intelligence to manage it any more.
A great keynote this morning from @ambermac on Artifical Intelligence – many thanks for sharing some of your vast knowledge! @SCCE #SCCEcei pic.twitter.com/CTibrXKINd

We should close every SCCE conference with these parting words from Roy Snell. We close this post with them, too.
Compliance people create trusted companies. Trusted companies create better economies and better countries. That improves the lives of everyone. – Big picture impact of compliance as explained by @RoySnellSCCE @SCCE #SCCEcei
