Compliance Jobs News
Suve Banerjee has taken a job with SAP as lead senior legal counsel for cloud and M&A compliance in York, England. Banerjee had been working in London for JP Morgan Chase as EMEA head of anti-corruption compliance.
And here in North America, SAP has also hired Kelly Alwin as a field compliance officer in Bellevue, Wash. Alwin previously was ethics and compliance program manager for XPO Logistics in Portland, Oregon.
Elizabeth Gilbert has a new job as associate director for business partner compliance at pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim in Ridgefield, Conn. Gilbert previously was director of compliance and professional relations for biotech firm ACell Inc. in Maryland.
Charles Silvey has been named global head of internal audit for Alcon, a Novartis spin-off in Fort Worth, Texas, that makes eye care products. Silvey comes to Alcon from Alexion Pharmaceuticals, where he had been vice president of internal audit.
Angus Hamilton is the new chief compliance officer for New York-based consumer lending business Liberty Lending. Hamilton previously was chief compliance officer for Petal Card, a credit card company also based in New York.
Walmart has promoted Jennifer Hedges to director of privacy. Hedges, who joined the company in 1999 and had been a senior privacy manager for the past three years, works out of the Walmart mothership in Bentonville, Ark.
After 11 years in Australia, compliance and risk specialist Tony Meredith is returning home to London. Most recently Meredith was APAC privacy subject matter expert for AIG in Melbourne. Next gig: currently unknown.
This story is a bit weedy, but worth hearing: Uttam Dhillon, a former top ethics counsel in the White House, warned against several candidates to head the Drug Enforcement Administration — and then took the job himself earlier this summer. So says the Wall Street Journal, which reports that law enforcement circles are unhappy with Dhillon because he has almost no narcotics experience, and that the scant time he did run a counter-narcotics office in the Bush Administration didn’t go well.
Amy Schuh is celebrating one year as senior vice president, chief ethics and compliance officer for IT services firm Cognizant in the Philadelphia area.
Vendors & Service Providers
As we noted earlier this week, Roy Snell has peaced out as CEO of the Society of Corporate Compliance and the Healthcare Compliance Association after 22 years on the job. His successor, Gerry Zack, takes over on Nov. 1.
Audrey Harris, former chief compliance officer for Australian mining company BHP, has rejoined law firm Mayer Brown in its D.C. office. Harris, who was a partner at the law firm prior to joining BHP, will be co-leader of the firm’s global anti-corruption and FCPA practice.
Jeffrey Cottle has jumped law firms, leaving Steptoe & Johnson to become a partner with Norton Rose in its compliance and investigations practice. Some of you may remember Cottle from his days on the corporate side, as a compliance officer at BHP Billiton, BAE, and elsewhere. Cottle will split his time between the United States and Europe. (I split mine between the spare bedroom and the corner coffee shop.)
Open Req Orders
