A few compliance vendors are touting customer wins; we have job openings from Texas to Missouri; and our Meme of the Week goes out to everyone who still uses spreadsheets for internal controls.

Cargotec, a cargo transportation services firm in Finland, has named Camilla Orko vice president of ethics and compliance. Orko comes to Cargotec from Telenor, where she was group ethics and compliance officer for two years. She succeeds Anna Romberg, who has joined the advisory firm Anchor Integrity.
In Denver, Jack Lehman has returned to RE/MAX as vice president of internal audit. Lehman worked at RE/MAX in 2016 and 2017, including a year as head of internal audit; he spent last year as vice president of internal audit for Envestnet, a financial services firm.
Goettl Air Conditioning, “the iconic pioneer of cooled-air technology,” has hired Donna DiMaggio as chief compliance officer. DiMaggio comes to the iconic pioneer from law firm Holley Driggs, where she had worked since 2015.
The always-embattled Wells Fargo has hired Maria Tejada as chief strategic enterprise risk officer. Tejada joins Wells Fargo from KeyBank, where she had been deputy chief risk officer since 2013. At Wells, she will oversee enterprise risk programs and risk reporting, plus strategic and reputation risk. The role was created last year. The title is a bit unusual, but whatever, Wells needs the help.
Joy Hayes (“The Joy of Ethics” on her LinkedIn profile) just took a job as senior ethics manager at Boeing. Hayes previously worked at SAIC as chief ethics officer.
Online payday loan lender Elevate Credit has shifted Kathleen Vanderkolk from general counsel to chief risk officer. She’ll lead a team of 15 and report to Elevate’s board. Vanderkolk has been with Elevate since 2013.
Maximillien Roche has been promoted to compliance manager for direct funding at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. Roche has been with WEF since 2017 working on anti-corruption initiatives.
Jane Brown just took a new job at UnitedHealthcare as chief compliance officer for North Carolina Medicaid Managed Care. Brown had previously been working for UnitedHealthcare in Iowa.
Pharmaceutical firm Akorn has named Sarah Iles chief ethics and compliance officer. Iles comes to the Chicago business from CDW, where she had been director of compliance & ethics.
Ashley Fieber has a new role at VyStar Credit Union in Jacksonville, Fla. Fieber had been the firm’s vice president for enterprise authentication and fraud; now she is vice president of operations and fraud. Fieber has been at VyStar only since last September, and previously worked at CIT.
Suzanne Wachsstock, previously head of antitrust compliance at American Express, has moved to Walmart to be chief antitrust counsel. Wachsstock had been at Amex for 11 years.
Julie Rys-Sours has been named director of compliance and risk management at Ounce of Prevention, a nonprofit based in Chicago. Rys-Sours comes to Ounce from Heartland Alliance, where she was director of corporate compliance and ethics.
In lovely White River Junction, Vt., Visiting Nurse and Hospice for Vermont and New Hampshire has named Sara Simeone vice president of quality and compliance. Simeone previously worked at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center as director of patient quality.
And news from regulator world: the Justice Department has tapped national security prosecutor Brandon Van Grack to head a new team enforcing the Foreign Agents Registration Act. Van Grack has been working on national security matters for the Justice Department since 2010, and most recently was in special counsel Robert Mueller’s office. Mueller used FARA to bring charges against former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.

Michelle Nichols just hit three years as senior director of ethics and compliance at Aaron’s.
Vendors and Service Providers
Circle, one of those crypto-finance startups using blockchain technology to do something I don’t understand, has selected NICE Actimize to implement Circle’s market surveillance program. So that’s a customer win for a compliance firm, whatever Circle does.
Remember Matt Bell, chief export compliance officer for ZTE’s operations here in the United States? Bell left that job last summer, and just turned up at FTI Consulting as senior managing director at its export controls practice.
Abrigo, a compliance technology firm in Texas that caters to the financial services industry, has acquired Farin Financial Risk Management, a self-described “industry trendsetter” with software for interest rate and liquidity risk management. Purchase price undisclosed.
Central Bancompany, a mid-sized bank holding firm based in Missouri, has implemented Wolters Kluwer’s regulatory change management and controls assessment solutions.
Open Req Orders
Apparel company VF is looking for a director of ethics and compliance, to be based in Denver. Job would report to Kellye Gordon, vice president of ethic & compliance and a very nice person to boot.
Hewlett-Packard (I refuse to call it HP) is looking for a channels compliance auditor for the Americas region. Job is based in Texas.
The University of Missouri System is seeking a chief audit and compliance officer. Job is in Columbia, Mo.
