Compliance Jobs Report: June 14
The Compliance Jobs Report this week moves from Groupon (losing its CCO) to Walgreens Boots (new anti-corruption chief), to more personnel moves at Convertus, Huntington Bank, a bundle of Brazlian businesses, and elsewhere. We have work anniversaries to celebrate, job openings to note, and our Meme of the Week goes out to Code of Conduct mavens.
I gather these bits of information from LinkedIn, news alerts, and friends emailing me something to include. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn. This report depends on people like you helping me, so send some news! Read on…
Compliance Jobs News
We begin in Chicago this week, where Ali Jubelirer has left her job as chief compliance officer at Groupon to join Revolution Enterprises, a legalized cannabis business, as general counsel. Jubelirer had worked in compliance roles at Groupon since 2013. There’s a joke about daily deals and weed in there somewhere, I just can’t quite put my finger on it.
Matt Levine has left his job at the New York Department of Financial Services, where he had been executive deputy superintendent of enforcement since 2016, to return to the private sector. Levine announced his departure via email this week. DFS unveiled a reorg in April where it consolidated the Enforcement Division and Financial Frauds and Consumer Protection Division into one new Consumer Protection and Financial Enforcement Division, headed by Katherine Lemire. Lemire previously was a partner at StoneTurn Group.
Movin’ on up: Mark Rogers has been named general counsel at Amkor Technology, a semiconductor equipment firm in Tempe, Ariz. Rogers comes to Amkor from ON Semiconductor, where he had been senior vice president and head of compliance and ethics since 2014.
And another move up: Nicole Keen has been promoted at Smiths Interconnect, from associate general counsel for the Americas, where she oversaw compliance, to general counsel.
Privia Health has named Dana Fields chief compliance officer. Fields will report directly to the CEO (right on!) and comes to Privia from Ardent Health Services, where she was head of investor relations. Fields has also held various compliance roles at Premise Health, HealthSpring Inc. and Ernst and Young.
The superbly named Land of Lincoln Credit Union, based in Decatur, Ill., has named Chris Smith as chief compliance officer. Smith previously was vice president of internal audit and compliance officer at SCB Bancorp across town in Decatur.
Steven Clark started work at Ohio National Financial Services this week, working in corporate compliance. Clark had been compliance coordinator at the University of Cincinnati.
Walgreens Boots Alliance has named Paul Jaquez senior counsel for anti-corruption. Jaquez comes to Walgreens from Axiom, where he had been corporate counsel for ethics and compliance since 2014.
Conifer Health Solutions has promoted Christina Van Elgort from compliance manager to director of physician coding. Elgort has been at Conifer in various roles since 2016 in lovely Modesto, Calif.
In Sao Paolo, Juliana Nascimento has left her job as chief compliance officer at Unimed Cuiabá to be a compliance risk manager at KPMG.
Also in Sao Paolo, Aegea Saneamento e Participações, one of the largest trash and sanitation firms in Brazil, has named Fernando M. Caleiro Palma chief compliance officer. Palma previously had taught at several universities and worked as a consultant in Brazil.
And one more: Tiago Augusto Duarte just got hired at Credit Agricole CIB. He comes to Credit Agricole from Standard Chartered, where he was associate director of compliance — in, of course, Sao Paolo.
OK, back to the United States. In Minneapolis, Iman Mohammed has joined Wells Fargo as an AML digital strategy consultant. I have no idea what that job is, but she comes to Wells from TD, where she had been an assistant vice president for regulatory compliance in TD’s strategic card program.
Covertus, a veterinary medicine firm based in Portland, Maine, has named Michael Pacella chief ethics and compliance officer. Pacella comes to Covertus from Zimmer Biomet, where he was global anti-corruption and investigations counsel.
Bob Lee has been named vice president of compliance for Pfizer’s China operations. Lee comes to Pfizer from Bristol Myers Squibb, where he had been head of compliance and ethics for BMS’ China operations since 2015. He’s based in Shanghai.
In Columbus, Ohio, Nate Herman has joined Huntington Bank as chief auditor. Previously Herman was head of regulatory and specialty operations at JPMorgan Chase. He also spent six years in the U.S. Marines and remains in the Marine Corps Reserves.
Elkhart Plastics, in the great state of Indiana, has promoted Bryan Myers to corporate compliance manager. Myers has worked for the company since 2013, most recently as a quality manager in the company’s South Bend, Ind., location.

You may have seen the news that KPMG is bracing to pay $50 million to the Securities and Exchange Commission to settle charges from that crazy scheme last year where firm partners were offering jobs to regulators at the PCAOB for inside tips on upcoming firm inspections. We’ll have more on that settlement when it’s formal, but for now — yeah, that’s happening.
