Compliance Jobs Report: July 5

No holiday weekend slowdown here! Another huge Compliance Jobs Report this week. The cities of Chicago and San Francisco both had some risk officer personnel news; new chief compliance officers named at Adventist Healthcare, DraftKings, some biotech firms, some financial firms, and plenty more. And since it’s the Fourth of July, our Meme of the Week goes out to America.

Compliance Jobs News

San Francisco’s chief audit executive, Tonia Lediju, has been re-assigned to lead a restructuring at the city’s troubled San Francisco Housing Authority. No word yet on who might lead the City Services Audit division while Lediju works on this new project. 

And the city of Chicago has named Tamika Puckett chief risk officer, a new role intended to help the city reduce the cost of police lawsuits and workers compensation. Puckett comes to the Windy City from Atlanta, where she has been director of enterprise risk management since 2016. Her starting salary will be $165,000. (Hey, Chicago disclosed it.) 

Meredith Trąbińska has a new job. After 18 years at Hewlett-Packard’s offices in Poland in various internal audit jobs, she has joined GSK as senior manager for global procurement policy, working on risk and compliance issues. Still based in Poland. 

Compliance jobsIn South Africa, Nooriah Hassen has joined financial services firm Soundsolve as compliance officer. Hassen previously worked as group compliance officer for FedGroup

The Securities and Exchange Commission has named Sagar Teotia its next chief accountant. Teotia had been deputy chief accountant since 2017 and has been with the SEC in various roles since 2009. He succeeds Wes Bricker, all around cool person and accountant, who left the agency earlier this year. 

Credit Suisse has named Luis Felipe Iturbide its head of financial crimes compliance for Mexico. Iturbide comes to Credit Suisse from CIBANCO, where he had been chief compliance officer. 

Andy Roth just joined Intuit as chief privacy officer. Roth previously was a partner at law firm Cooley in the firm’s cybersecurity practice. 

In Chicago, Christiane Soares has been named a compliance & fraud investigations officer at CIBC U.S. She comes to CIBC from TD Bank Group, where she worked as a senior investigator since 2011. 

In Maryland, Dwayne Leslie has joined Adventist Healthcare as chief compliance officer. Leslie has worked in pharmaceutical and healthcare law around Maryland for 20 years. 

Elizabeth Tate has left her job at Citi, where she was chief auditor for global consumer technology; to join Capital One, where she is vice president for technology audit. Also relocated from Florida to Washington, so presumably she sees a lot less crazy stuff in her local news. 

Investment firm GQG Partners has named Sal DiGangi chief compliance officer. DiGangi joins GQG Partners from UBS O’Connor, where he was chief compliance officer. GQG says Suzanne Chmura will continue to serve as U.S. chief compliance officer.

Genstar Capital, a private equity firm in San Francisco, has named Carolyn Greenwalt chief compliance officer. Greenwalt was previously a staff attorney at the SEC

Intra-Cellular Therapies, a New York City biotech firm trying to cure Alzheimers, Parkinson’s disease, and other nervous system disorders, has hired Karen Patruno as chief compliance officer. Patruno joins Intra-Cellular from Mallinckrodt, where she had been chief compliance officer since 2017. 

Andy Lemon has a new job as a compliance analyst for interactive gaming at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. Lemon previously worked as an AML compliance manager for French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind. (home to basketball great Larry Bird).  

Promoted: Daniel Stecchini, regional ethics and compliance exec for Walmart, working from New York. Moving up from manager to director. 

Also promoted: Q VanBenschoten, who had been vice president of North America compliance for Intertek. She now oversees compliance for all of the Americas region, and informed Radical Compliance of this fact through a very nice postcard sent from Spain.

DraftKings, an online sports betting outfit based in Boston, says CFO Tim Dent will shift into the role of chief compliance officer, overseeing all things related to compliance, licensing, regulatory affairs, and responsible gaming. The firm also hired a new CFO to fill Dent’s old job. 

Aerospace firm Leonardo has promoted Riccardo della Vecchia to group head of internal audit. Della Vecchia has been with Leonardo since 2013. (Oh, Leonardo Da Vinci, who sketched out flying machine in 1485. Now I get it…) 

In Huntsville, Ala., Sequel Youth and Family Services has named Samatha Lee chief ethics and compliance officer. Lee comes to Sequel from the South Dakota Human Services Center, where she had been chief compliance officer for two years. 

Health Insurance Innovations, a cloud-based tech services provider (I’ll let you guess to what industry) has named Domenick DiCicco chief compliance officer. Prior to joining HII, DiCicco served as global general counsel for technology firm Sedgwick

Milestones

Lacey Daugherty is celebrating one year as North America compliance officer for Teleflex. With a name like that the company should be some sort of long-distance gym business, but actually it’s medical devices. 

Jennifer Hogan just hit one year as chief ethics and compliance officer at Kraft-Heinz Co

Angelique Lee-Rowley is celebrating one year as global chief compliance officer at Greenwich Biosciences

J.D. Thomas is celebrating one year as director of compliance risk management at Circle

Alonso Ruiz Barba is celebrating five years at GEPP, a beverage company in Mexico, in various risk and compliance roles. He has been chief audit executive since July 2018.

And congratulations to Fernanda Beraldi, senior director of ethics and compliance at Cummins; and Sadeq Khan, chief compliance officer and at Vertical Screen. Both were named this week to the Association of Corporate Counsel’s eighth annual Top 10 30-Somethings. Way to represent the profession!

Vendors and Service Providers

Robert Mascola, last seen at Barrick Gold Corp. where he was deputy chief compliance officer, has joined Fordham Law School as senior director of compliance programs. Students who do not subscribe to Radical Compliance will receive an F. 

Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics and the Health Care Compliance Association are seeking nominations to their board of directors. Nomination deadline is July 31. 

Open Req Orders

Visa (they make credit cards) is looking for a senior director of compliance for AML, counter-terrorism, and sanctions. Job is in Foster City, Calif.

Kimberly-Clark is looking for an anti-corruption compliance leader. Job is based in Dallas. 

MedStar Health is looking for a chief compliance officer. Job is based in Columbia, Md.
