I gather these bits of information from LinkedIn, news alerts, and friends emailing me something to include. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn. This report depends on people like you helping me, so send some news! Read on…
Compliance Jobs News
We start with continued drama at Nissan: the company’s head of internal audit, Christina Murray, has departed after pushing to expand a probe of misconduct by former CEO Carlos Ghosn and his minions. Murray had been head of internal audit since 2017 and Nissan’s chief compliance officer since 2015; she had been with the firm in one role or another since 2006. I suspect there’s more to come on this story, and Murray has liked numerous Radical Compliance posts on LinkedIn over the years so her judgment must be sharp.
Shawn Rogers is leaving General Motors, where he had been ethics and compliance counsel and leader of compliance training since 2016. No word yet on where he’s heading next.
Steve Schoenly just turned up that University of Miami Health System, where he is assistant vice president for compliance. Schoenly had been hanging out as a consultant since 2018; prior to that he had been head of compliance and audit at Healogics for a few years.
Speaking of Healogics, its chief compliance officer Kelly Priegnitz just left the company for Trilogy Health Services, where she is the new chief compliance officer. Priegnitz also recently joined the board of Care Hospice.
In Mexico City, Arturo Reyes has been named internal controls and risk officer at Tangerine Electronics. Reyes had previously been chief audit executive at Aeropuertos GAP, a firm that operated a dozen airports across Mexico.
In Sydney, Australia, Ashim Prabhakar has joined Westpac Group as senior manager of anti-bribery and corruption. Prabhakar comes to Westpac from Woolworths Group, where he had been group manager for fraud, bribery, and corruption risk management.
Yeny Fanning has joined OrthoSensor in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as director of compliance and privacy. Fanning previously worked at Teva Pharmaceuticals for nearly seven years, most recently as director of privacy and compliance for emerging markets.
Down the road in Miami, City National Bank of Florida Lester has re-assigned Lester Guido from vice president and team lead for monitoring to vice president and team lead for investigations. Guido has been the the bank since April.
Charlene Davis has joined Aerie Pharmaceuticals as chief compliance officer in Durham, N.C. Davis joins Aerie, which researches glaucoma treatments, from Sun Pharmaceuticals in New Jersey.
Liana Unger, last seen at Perrigo Co. earlier this year as global corporate compliance manager, is now risk and compliance officer for Co-Operative Housing Ireland in Dublin.
Raphael Loschiavo Cerdeira has joined Philips in Panama as fraud investigator. Cerdeira comes to Philips from Samsung Electronics, where he worked in the Panama office as legal and compliance officer for Central America and the Caribbean.
Neste Corp., an electronics firm based in Finland, has named Hanna Puittinen vice president of internal audit. Puittinen had been interim head of audit at Neste since May, and prior to that had been the firm’s chief compliance officer for 18 months. We wish her luck in her new role even though internal audit is way less cool than compliance.
Departing: Mike Althouse, from Barclays, where he had been head of compliance advisory for the U.S. consumer bank since 2018. Althouse hasn’t said where he will go next, but says the new gig “is pretty fantastic” and more will be announced after some time off.
Jennie Orrico has joined GE Healthcare as chief compliance counsel, working from Chicago. Orrico previously worked at Shire Pharmaceuticals as chief compliance and risk officer.
Walgreens Boots Alliance has named Ahmed Hussein chief ethics and compliance officer for its Middle East region. Ahmed previously worked in ethics and compliance for both Sandoz (earlier this year) and Takeda (2018) in Saudi Arabia. Looks like he has since moved to Egypt for the Walgreens job.
Ryan Gregory has joined Umpqua Bank as an AML support specialist, working out of Portland, Oreg. Gregory previously worked at Simple Finance as a risk specialist.
Citi has promoted Ricardo Martinez Rivera from assistant vice president for operational risk management to vice president and audit manager for the bank’s stress tests. He’s based in Tampa, Fla.
Wells Fargo has promoted Issakha Dia from senior compliance consultant for enterprise testing to compliance manager for enterprise testing. So first round of drinks is on him.
Milestones
Wafa Derouiche is celebrating five years at TE Connectivity, where she is director of legal compliance for the EMEA region.
Mike Lucash is celebrating 10 years at Connecticut Home Mortgage, where he has been vice president of compliance and risk management.
And remember when Radical Compliance tracked ethics and compliance professionals seeking public office last year? Well, we have our first name for the 2020 cycle: Ronetta Francis, a former head of employment compliance at Walmart, is running for state senate in Arkansas. We wish her well.
Vendors and Service Providers
Stephanie Reuer has joined Deloitte as a senior manager in its legal and tax practice, based in Amsterdam. Reuer was previously director of global trade compliance for Esterline Technologies in Annapolis, Md. With all due respect to Maryland, a move to Amsterdam is a big step up on the excitement scale.
Leigh Emery has left her job as chief compliance officer at Dynasty Financial Partners to hang a shingle at ACA Compliance Group, where she is a senior consultant. Emery had been CCO at Dynasty for two years.
Carmen Wasserman has left Evofem Biosciences, where she had been chief compliance officer for three months, to start her own consulting business: Compliance Legal and Strategic Solutions. CLASS, get it?
