Compliance Jobs Report: Feb. 21

The Compliance Jobs Report this week has personnel moves at AMP, BMO Financial, Elanco, Pentax Medical, and more. We note a grandee internal auditing who will soon be an inductee to the Accounting Hall of Fame; a few moves in consulting world; and from education to automotive to Catholic relief — plus, as always, our Meme of the Week.

I gather these bits of information from LinkedIn, news alerts, and friends emailing me something to include. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn. This report depends on people’ like you helping me, so send some news! Read on…

Compliance Jobs News

AMP, the financial services firm in Australia and New Zealand, says chief risk officer Jenny Fagg has resigned (amicably, apparently) after nearly two years at the firm. Phil Pakes, AMP’s chief audit executive, will take over as CRO, and internal audit executive Nicola Rimmer-Hollyman will take over from Pakes as chief audit executive.

Amy Thompson has been promoted at Wells Fargo, from senior investigator to associate manager of enterprise investigations. Still based in Portland, Oreg.

BMO Financial has hired Markena Peavy as senior compliance manager. Peavy comes to the firm from MB Financial Bank, where she was a vice president of compliance. Based in Chicago.

Also in Chicago, Angela Maslovskaya has joined CDK Global, a maker of software and technology for dealers (automotive, not weed) as director of controls, compliance, and risk. She comes to CDK from Aon, where she was a senior manager; and prior to that she was head of audit for Groupon.

Last week we noted that Breann McNeil was leaving her job as manager of ethics and compliance at Allegion. Now we know that McNeil has joined Elanco, an animal health business in Indiana (like, animal feed and pharmaceuticals), where McNeil will be senior adviser for anti-corruption and third-party management.

Pentax Medical, which makes endoscopic imaging devices, has named Michael Kim global chief compliance officer. Kim previously worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he was executive director of compliance.

Credit Suisse Brasil has promoted Roberto Barbosa to be AML head for Brazil. Barbosa has been at Credit Suisse since 2016.

In Sodus, N.Y., Reliant Community Credit Union has promoted Michael Miller to vice president of enterprise risk management. Miller has worked at Reliant for 10 years, and had been head of internal auditing until the promotion last week.

Alison Dorigão Palermo has been named head of compliance for Ame Digital, a payments fintech firm based in Brazil. Palermo comes to Ame from ING’s Brazilian operations, where he was vice president of client onboarding.

And Emily Gross has left her job as data protection manager at Deloitte to be records management lead at Sanofi, working out of Bridgewater, N.J.

Milestones

Paula Goldman just hit one year as chief ethics and humane use officer at Salesforce. More large companies should staff roles like this.

Victor Brink, co-founder of the Institute of Internal Auditors, will be inducted posthumously into the Accounting Hall of Fame. Brink died in 1992, and helped to found the IIA in 1941. The induction ceremony will happen in August.

Vendors & Service Providers

Sven Stumbaeur, a long-time financial crimes compliance consultant with a specialty in Latin America, has moved his shingle from Alix Partners to the law firm Norton Rose.

In compliance monitor news, the Justice Department is tapping Mark Filip to monitor the merger between Ticketmaster and Live Nation. If Filip’s name rings a bell, that’s because he was deputy attorney general at the end of the Bush Administration circa 2008. When you hear someone talk about the Filip Factors for Justice Department prosecution of a business, that’s him.

Open Req Orders

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a chief risk and compliance officer. You can guess where the job is located.

Catholic Relief Services is looking to hire a global risk and compliance adviser, to oversee third-party risk among CRS funding recipients. Job is based in Baltimore.

Nissan Motor Corp. is looking for a governance, risk, and compliance manager for Latin America. Job is based in Sao Paolo.

Meme of the Week

That’s all for this week. As always — if you have a tip or want to brag about your new job, promotion, career milestone, or anything else, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn. I’m always happy to give credit to the many hard-working people here in our corner of the business universe.
