Compliance Jobs Report: June 5

Another gut-busting Compliance Jobs Report this week! Changing of the CCO guard at Citigroup and at Daimler; a bundle of appointments in Brazil; new hires at FINRA, Zoll Medical, Bronx Honda (our first car dealership in the report!) and lots more. Plus, our Meme of the Week goes out to Downton Abbey fans.

As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs News

We begin with Citigroup, where chief compliance officer Mark Carawan is retiring next week. He had been with the bank for eight years. Succeeding him as CCO will be Mary McNiff, chief executive of Citibank N.A., the firm’s largest banking division.

Remember back in March when Daimler announced that chief compliance officer Olaf Schick was shipping out to be CFO of the auto giant’s China operations? Now we know the new chief compliance officer: Wolfgang Bartels, who will take over as CCO and head of compliance on July 1. Bartels joined Daimler in 2007 and since last year has been head of legal for the Mercedes-Benz unit.

Molly Finn, chief compliance officer at eBay for the last two years, has joined the board of directors for the World Food Program USA, the U.S. unit of the U.N. World Food Program. Here’s hoping she lands on the audit committee.

From down in Australia, word reaches us that Tom McLeod is the new chief audit and risk officer at RMIT University in Melbourne. McLeod had previously been head of risk for the Australian Broadcasting Corp. He also happens to be quite thoughtful about the future of the audit profession, if you’re ever in Melbourne and looking to talk shop on that subject.

Molson-Coors Beverage Co. (they make beer, you know) has promoted Tom Martinez, from forensics and audit manager to senior manager of forensic audit and data analytics.

E-cigarette maker Juul Labs has promoted Mario Miszalski, from compliance director for EMEA to senior compliance director. He presumably is picking up some duties that had belonged to James Swift, who had been senior director for EMEA until Swift left the company for a gig at ByteDance.

A few compliance personnel items from Brazil… 🇧🇷

Bronx Honda, a car dealership serving the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn, has named Marie Jacob chief compliance officer. Jacob comes to Bronx Honda after 20 years as an employment lawyer in New York, including an eight-year stint at Time-Warner. Pretty sure this is the first car dealership ever mentioned in the Jobs Report.

Bobby Butler has joined Renesas Electronics in Florida as senior manager for global trade compliance. Butler comes to Renesas from Superior Energy Services in Houston, where he had been North America ethics and compliance officer.

Insurance giant Assurant Corp. has promoted Todd Holmes, from vice president of internal audit services to chief audit executive. Holmes has been working at Assurant since 2009.
