Compliance Jobs Report: June 12
A shorter Compliance Jobs Report this week, after last week’s record-breaking edition. This week we have new hires at the Libra Association, Discover Financial Services, Lyft, and Convercent, plus promotions and more new hires at other firms. Some vendors have rolled out new products, and we have job openings from Alaska to San Diego.
As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.
Compliance Jobs News
We begin with the Libra Association, that virtual currency pipedream idea supported by Facebook. It just named Sterling Daines as chief compliance officer, where he presumably will build a compliance infrastructure for this currency that does not yet exist. Daines comes to the group from Credit Suisse, where he had been head of financial crimes compliance since 2017. Before that, he’d held the same role at Goldman Sachs.
Discover Financial Services has named Bill Chippendale chief audit executive. Chippendale had been working at West Thomas & Co. as a consultant since the start of 2019, but prior to that he spent 10 years at Capital One in various audit roles.
Lyft just picked up OBryan Manglicmot (“picked up!” get it?) as a healthcare compliance manager. Manglicmot comes to Lyft from Stanford Healthcare, where he had been a compliance specialist since 2018.
Christine Carr, a senior operational risk manager at Royal Bank of Scotland, just transferred into its subsidiary RBS International, which handles corporate banking. Carr has been with RBS in various roles since 2015.
Grupo Zelo, a financial services firm in Brazil, has promoted Aline FIguerido from compliance analyst to compliance coordinator. She has been with Zelo since last September.
Richard Morley has joined Tokyo Electron Europe, a semiconductor business, as trade compliance manager. Morley previously worked at Superdrug, a consumer chain based in Britain, as trade compliance manager.
Envolve Pharmacy Solutions, a subsidiary of Centene, has promoted Brittani Ready from compliance manager to senior compliance manager. She has been with the business since 2017. Keep moving up that ladder!
Antonio de la Mora y Madrigal has MVB Fintech, a startup bank, as chief risk officer. Madrigal comes to MVB from Rapyd, another fintech player in the payments market, where he had also been chief auditor and compliance officer.
Habib Metropolitan Bank has named Haroon Zaib as head of financial crimes and compliance. Zaib, based in Pakistan, previously spent 20 years at United Bank Ltd. in various compliance roles for the bank’s Pakistan operations.
And Asha Palmer just joined Convercent as chief ethics and compliance officer. Palmer had been running her own compliance consulting business since late 2018, and prior to that had been senior compliance counsel for Mubadala. She succeeds Katie Smith, who left Convercent last fall for a gig at Assurant.
Vendors & Service Providers
Amy Pawloski has left her job as global compliance officer for Endo International, to hang her own shingle as head of consulting firm Strategic Visibility.
Vendor news: Ernst & Young has struck an alliance with WorldAware, an integrated risk management software vendor, to sell risk management solutions that tracks employees’ business travel and “helps organizations understand travel-related compliance as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
More vendor news: NAVEX Global has announced three new products from its LockPath risk management platform: Lockpath Third Party Risk Management; Lockpath Business Continuity Management; and Lockpath Privacy, Risk and Compliance Management.
Open Req Orders
UC San Diego Health is recruiting a chief compliance and privacy officer. Job is based in, you guessed it, San Diego.
Cushman & Wakefield is looking for a vice president of business unit compliance. Job is based in Chicago.
The Maniilaq Association, a Native American tribe based in Kotzebue, Alaska, is looking for a chief compliance officer. Kotzebue is on the west coast of Alaska, a 90-minute flight from Anchorage. Plan accordingly.
Compliance Meme of the Week
