Compliance Jobs Report: Oct. 2

The Compliance Jobs Report this week has several personnel items from Fresenius Medical Care, new hires at Sysco, Citigroup, Ericsson, and elsewhere, plus a bundle of promotions to note. We see that Facebook is still looking for a CCO, and our Meme of the Week goes out to internal control testing.

As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs News

We begin at Fresenius Medical Care, which just promoted Mary Shirley to head of culture of integrity and compliance education — a rare and quite impressive title. Shirley has been with Fresenius in various legal and compliance roles for five years. She is also famous as co-host of the Great Women in Compliance Podcast

Fresenius also just hired Enrique Grande Jarque as country compliance officer for Spain. Jarque previously had been ethics, risk, and compliance champion (that was his actual title, and we love it) for Novartis España

Vise, a fintech firm in New York that styles itself as “an AI-powered investment management platform built for the modern financial adviser,” has named Shah Hafizi chief compliance officer. Hafizi comes to Vise after serving as chief compliance officer for the digital wealth division of BlackRock

AbbVie just scooped up Ornella Izzo as associate director of global commercial legal affairs, based in Rome. Izzo had spent the last eight years at Allergan, most recently as associate director of legal and compliance.

Push Gaming, a maker of gambling equipment for casinos and other businesses, has named Jessica Maier chief risk officer and head of compliance. Maier joins the Germany-based Push Gaming after eight years at Melchers, a German law firm.

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Cos. has promoted Stefanie Hill to director and compliance counsel, from her prior role as associate director. Hill has been with Otsuka in various U.S. roles for seven years.

Food business Sysco has hired Chidimma Mbamalu as senior manager for global ethics and compliance. Mbamalu comes to Sysco from oil services firm Wood, where she had a similar title and worked on compliance and ethics training. Based in Houston.

Betta Sherman Swanson has joined Elara Caring, a nationwide home-care business, as chief compliance officer. Prior to joining Elara, Swanson was chief compliance officer at 21st Century Oncology down in Fort Myers, Fla.

Also in Fort Myers, Fla., American Oncology Network has named Kristin Matisziw corporate compliance officer. Matisziw had previously been executive director of regulatory compliance at Mercy, a large healthcare system based in St. Louis.

South State Bank, a regional bank based in South Carolina, has promoted Brad Gainey from vice president and ERM operations manager to vice president and risk operations support manager. Gainey has been with the bank since 2018.

In Paris, Isabelle Mury has joined Gras Savoye Willis Towers Watson as chief compliance officer for France. Mury previously worked at Chubb as compliance officer for France.

Elizabeth O’Keefe has joined US Pharmacopeia as senior compliance manager. O’Keefe comes to the firm from travel search website Kayak, where she had been compliance manager for the last two years. That’s one way to change your career midstream…

Joanne Swain just turned up at Succession Wealth, a financial management firm in London, as compliance director. Swain was last seen a few months ago at the Phoenix Group in London, where she had been director of financial crime and regulatory risk.

Credit Suisse has promoted Houssam Alhumaidan, from director of compliance in Saudi Arabia to chief country compliance officer there. Alhumaidan has been with Credit Suisse since last year.

Sam Gibbins has joined Citigroup as global compliance coordinator for fair lending and financial inclusion — although Gibbins also phrases the role as “global compliance coordinator for treating customers fairly,” which sounds way cooler to me. Gibbins is based in Singapore, and comes to Citi after working in various contract and consulting roles in the banking world there for the last several years.

Promoted: Nick Colón, at crafting website Etsy, from senior compliance manager to director of global compliance strategy. Colón has been with Etsy since 2018.

In Boston, IW Pharmacy has named Jeff Torres chief compliance officer. Torres comes to the firm from Banfield Pet Hospital in Portland, Oreg., where he was head of U.S. compliance.

Alison Howell has joined Ericsson, where she will be head of allegations management and assurance. Howell comes to the mobile phone giant after five years at VEON, most recently as head of the monitor liaison office.

And Charles Paré has left his job at Philip Morris International where he was head of ethics and compliance for Western Europe. He has joined IT services firm Unisys as head of compliance advisory on a contract basis. Hanging out in Switzerland.

Vendors & Service Providers

Customer win: Avalara, a cloud-based provider of tax software, has decided to use the Galvanize HighBond platform as Avalara’s GRC management system.

Compliance consulting firm Elinphant has added two new senior executives: Michael Corraro, formerly of OTC, and Bill Meehan, formerly of KPMG. Apparently financial firms need a fair bit of help sorting compliance risks during a pandemic.

Open Req Orders

Aventiv Technologies is looking for a director of internal audit. Company is based in Dallas, but apparently this role is a permanent remote position.

Facebook is still looking for a chief ethics and compliance officer. Which means the company hasn’t filled this role since Radical Compliance first noted the position four months ago. Interesting.

And Kayak is looking for a compliance manager, presumably to fill the role created when Elizabeth O’Keefe (see above) left for a gig in pharma. Job is based in Cambridge.

Compliance Meme of the Week

That’s all for this week’s report.
