Compliance Jobs Report: April 30
We have a decidedly international Compliance Jobs Report this week, with new hires or promotions in Brazil, Canada, China, Dubai, France, India, Sweden, and elsewhere! Also a bunch of news from here in the United States; plus two corporate auditors getting board appointments; and lots of other gossip as usual.
As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at mkelly@radicalcompliance.com or find me on LinkedIn.
Compliance Jobs News
We begin this week with two corporate audit professionals marching into the board room!
First, Brandi Thomas, chief audit executive for General Electric since last December and head of corporate audit at Delta Airlines before that, has joined the board of Serta Simmons Bedding.
Second, payments software firm Flywire Corp. had named Edwin Santos to its board too, where he will be chairman of the audit committee. Santos is former general auditor of Citizens Financial. He also serves on various other corporate boards.
Over in France, Stefanie Magner has been promoted to chief compliance officer and vice president of international legal affairs at Genfit, a pharmaceutical firm developing treatment for liver diseases. Magner has been with the company since 2016, and previously was deputy director for legal affairs.
Fabriik, a financial services firm in Toronto that says its mission is “to evolve the very fabric of the global financial system,” has named Sam Azad chief compliance officer. Azad comes to Fabriik from PrismFP, a financial services firm in London, where he had been group head of compliance. (Personally, I just want more of the global financial system to evolve its way into my wallet.)
Dana Sade has joined the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as an ethics lawyer. Sade previously worked as assistant general counsel for the U.S. Agency for Global Media, the government agency that oversees Radio Free Europe and other broadcast outlets.
Leona Lewis, one of the more notable compliance folks in Minnesota, has a new job at consumer goods firm Thrasio as senior counsel for privacy and operational compliance. Lewis joined Thrasio after a few months as a privacy consultant, and prior to that she was head of privacy for e-commerce site Shutterlfy.com.
Scania, the Swedish maker of trucks, buses, and other large vehicles, has promoted Jimmy Carlsson. Carlsson had been export control, risk, and governance officer; now he’s head of export control, risk and governance.
Christopher Welga has joined the Suffolk Federal Credit Union on Long Island as vice president of risk management. Welga previously worked at Teachers Federal Credit Union for 20 years, just about all of them as vice president of enterprise risk management.
Samsonite, the luggage maker, has promoted John Hand from vice president of global internal audit to vice president of operational finance and corporate initiatives. Hand has been with Samsonite in several roles for 10 years.
Timothy Roberts has joined Amneal Pharmaceuticals as chief compliance officer. Roberts comes to Amneal, a generics manufacturer in New Jersey, from AbbVie, where he had been executive director of compliance since last year.
And another Timothy: Tim Carfrey has joined PTC Therapeutics as director of global compliance and enterprise risk management. Carfrey had previously worked at FS Investments for nearly five years, most recently as executive director of compliance oversight.
Business software firm SAP has promoted Paul Zietsman, from senior compliance professional to regional compliance manager for Southern Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Zietsman has been with SAP since 2016, based in the United Arab Emirates.
In Brazil, Manuel Bermejo Fletes has been hired as compliance and anti-money laundering officer for Bitso, a delightfully named cryptocurrency firm in Latin America. He joins Bitso after a year as a local compliance manager for Google.
In India, local e-commerce giant Flipkart has promoted Brahadheesh Deivanayagam from senior manager of trade compliance to associate director. He’s been with Flipkart since 2019.
And all the way over in Shanghai, Huazhu Group Ltd., a hotel company that operates the Joya and Manxin brands, among others, has promoted chief compliance officer Hui Chen to chief financial officer. This Hui Chen is not to be confused with the other Hui Chen, the renown U.S. compliance professional who these days is consulting with the state attorney general of Hawaii.
Vendors and Service Providers
News from Diligent, the GRC software vendor that scooped up Galvanize and Steele Compliance in February. The firm has established an “ESG Center of Excellence,” and named Matt DiGuiseppe as vice president of research and ESG. He comes to Diligent from State Street Global Advisors.
