Compliance Jobs Report: Sept. 10

The Compliance Jobs Report this week has new hires at Credit Suisse, Marsh McLennan, Cox Communications, Bank of America, and a trendy fintech firm named Dapp, among others. We also have promotions at Walmart, CEVA Logistics, and elsewhere; plus job openings in entertainment, education, and pharmaceuticals. Our Meme of the Week goes out, sadly, to the Twin Towers.

As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs News

We begin this week (as we so often do lately) with yet another update from Credit Suisse. The beleaguered bank has named its head of internal audit, Rafael Lopez Lorenzo, as its next permanent chief compliance officer. Lorenzo succeeds Lara Warner, who had been Credit Suisse’s chief risk and compliance officer until April, when she departed amid several big risk management gaffes the bank made. Credit Suisse then split risk and compliance into separate roles, and hired David Wildermuth in July as chief risk officer. Thomas Grotzer, one of Credit Suisse’s top legal officers, had been interim CCO since Warner left. No word yet on who might succeed Lorenzo as head of internal audit.

Also, just in from Bank of America: the company is promoting Lauren Mogensen, from head of global compliance and operational risk to global general counsel, starting in 2022. Mogensen has been with the bank in various legal and compliance roles for 20 years, and will now be the top legal dog. Bank of America will also promote Amy Littman to succeed Mogensen as global head of compliance and operational risk; Littman previously had been a deputy general counsel for HR and administrative matters.

Marsh McLennan, the insurance and professional services giant, has promoted Denise Sanchez to chief compliance officer. Sanchez has been with Marsh since 2017, and previously served as chief compliance officer for the firm’s Marsh USA operations. She succeeds Katherine Brennan, who has been promoted to general counsel of Marsh.

And another from Mexico: Karla Valdés Posada has joined Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. as head of compliance and anti-money laundering in its Mexico operations. Posada previously worked at Miranda Partners, a compliance consulting firm in Mexico, since January.

Second, she has also been named chair of the company’s Black/African American Resource Group. She has been with Walmart in various anti-money laundering and compliance roles for 11 years.
