Compliance Jobs Report: Sept. 24

The Compliance Jobs Report this week has new hires at Activision Blizzard, Cooper Standard, BetMGM, and Beam Suntory, among others. We also have a few promotions to report, compliance officers joining the SCCE board, job leads in social media and women’s underwear — and our Meme of the Week goes out to in-person conferences!

As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs News

This week we begin with Joy Hayes (who goes by “Joy of Ethics” in her LinkedIn ID), who has joined Activision Blizzard as senior director of ethics and compliance. Hayes comes to Activision after two years at Boeing, where she worked on ethics issues; and before that was chief ethics officer at SAIC. This new gig should be quite the professional challenge, considering Activision’s many issues right now.

Swedbank is losing its chief compliance officer, Ingrid Harbo. Harbo joined the bank in 2019 and led a revamp of its anti-money laundering compliance after regulators found serious deficiencies in its AML program for the Baltics — a problem common among Scandinavian banks in the late 2010s, we might add. Anyway, Harbo has announced that she will retire next March; the bank will conduct a formal search for her successor.

Cooper Standard, manufacturer of sealing and fluid handling systems, has hired Amy Kulikowski to be vice president of internal audit and compliance. She succeeds Becky McCabe, who was recently promoted to chief accounting officer; and joins Cooper Standard from BorgWarner, where she was assistant controller for its Delphi Technologies subsidiary.

Noreen Fierro has moved on from her job as chief ethics and compliance officer at Guardian Life, to be the new chief compliance officer at BetMGM, an online sports betting business that is all over the Las Vegas Strip these days. Fierro had been CCO at Guardian since 2016. She is also a delightful person.

SUEZ North America, which provides water and wastewater services, has hired Nick Ajmera as director of internal controls. Ajmera previously worked at Northwest Territories Power Corp. in Canada for a year as risk and internal audit leader. He is now based in New Jersey.

Promoted: Wenny Wigley, at data analytics firm IQVIA, from associate director of ethics and compliance to compliance director. Wigley has been with IQVIA for not quite 18 months.

Also promoted: Catherine Calko, at Spring Oaks Capital, a financial technology firm in Virginia; from director of audit and compliance to chief compliance officer and assistant general counsel. Calko has been with the firm for almost one year.

Commonwealth Financial Network, which provides back-end services to independent registered investment advisers, has hired Alexander Hansen as senior vice president for RIA compliance. Hansen previously was chief compliance officer for Dynasty Financial Partners

GI Alliance, a chain of gastroenterology medical practices based in Texas, has hired Talisha Williams as manager of compliance program integration. Williams joins GIA from Southwestern Health Resources, where she had been a corporate compliance analyst.

Tobias Thibaut has joined liquor conglomerate Beam Suntory as international compliance officer, working from Madrid. Thibaut previously spent five years at HotelBeds, a distributor of spare hotel rooms, as director of risk, compliance, and internal audit. No word on whether Beam gives him product discounts as part of the compensation package…

In Italy, Nadège Rochel has joined Janssen Pharmaceuticals (subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson) as country healthcare compliance officer. Rochel comes to Janssen after eight years at Hollister International, the last three of them as global compliance manager.

Google has hired Rena Moakeh as a global risk and compliance manager, working from Atlanta. Moakeh comes to the search engine from Dematic, an “intralogistics innovator” (I don’t know what that means), where she had been executive compliance officer for governance and privacy.

And Citizens Bank — the community bank based in Batesville, Ark.; not the other one — has promoted Lisa Davis to director of enterprise risk management. Davis has been with the bank since 2009, and previously was senior compliance officer.

Milestones
