Compliance Jobs News
We begin this week in Dubai, where Ian Moolman has joined Emirates Global Aluminium as associate manager of ethics and compliance. Moolman previously worked as a trainer for the International Compliance Association for most of 2021, and earlier in his career he held compliance roles at Swiss chemicals company SIPCA and at Glencore’s agribusiness unit. Moolman reports that the weather in Dubai is hot.
Scott Steinheiser has joined Arena Pharmaceuticals as director of global corporate compliance. Steinheiser comes to the Illinois-based company after three years at Kaleo, most recently as senior manager of integrity and compliance.
Ben Rank has signed up as interim compliance director for Davidson Kempner European Partners, an investment fund in London. Rank was previously senior compliance manager for Insight Investments, also in London.
John O’Connell has joined the New York offices of Bank Negara Indonesia as chief compliance officer. O’Connell comes to Bank Negara after four years as compliance officer in the New York offices of Hua Nan Bank.
Promoted: Kimberly Van Cleave, at Abbott, from director of ethics and compliance to senior director of ethics and compliance. Van Cleave has been with the medical device giant for three years.
Also promoted: Curtis Fox, at International Flavors and Fragrances, from employment and compliance counsel to senior employment and compliance counsel. (But we prefer that the title be “compliance and employment” counsel, obviously.)
And another promotion: Chris Cokinis, at investment advisory firm Calton & Associates, from head of legal and regulatory audits to chief compliance officer.
And another promotion: Ivana Kovačić, at ALPS, a financial services firm based in Denver; from regulatory compliance manager to fund chief compliance officer.
Stephen Germain has a new role at Walt Disney Co. Germain had been manager of enterprise compliance programs for five years; now he will be a senior manager for risk management. Working in lovely Burbank, Calif.
The governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, has named Maria Martinez chief compliance officer for Whitmer’s administration. Martinez joined the governor’s office in December 2020 and since then had been serving as deputy legal counsel. Previously Martinez was assistant general counsel at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
Speaking of Blue Cross, Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield has promoted Phil Sherrill to chief risk officer. Sherrill has worked at Arkansas Blue Cross since the 1990s and had been director of internal control and reporting.
Madhumitha Ravikumar has joined Global Savings Group, a shopping rewards business headquartered in Munich, as director of governance, risk, and compliance. Ravikumar had previously been working at KPMG Deutschland for a few years, most recently as manager of risk and compliance services.
Kansas-based Spirit AeroSystems has reorganized and named Justin Welner chief administrative and compliance officer. Welner has been with Spirit for nearly 10 years and previously was vice president of human resources, corporate affairs, IT, and strategy.
Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, one of the more notable names in shareholder activism, has hired Kathryn Fric as chief risk officer, effective Nov. 1. Fric joins Ontario Teachers after an 18-year career at Sun Life Financial, where she most recently was senior vice president for enterprise and operational risk.
And one final promotion: the Arrow Family of Companies, a holding company for numerous community banks in upstate New York, has promoted Leslie Munger to director of compliance and risk. Munger has been with Arrow since 2007 in various compliance roles, most recently as compliance manager.
Milestones
Michael Padilla is celebrating one year as senior manager of internal audit at Starbucks.
Cherie Raven is celebrating five years as director of ethics for defense contractor Raytheon.
Vendors and Service Providers
Big news in the consulting world this week: Ellen Hunt has joined Spark Compliance, the consulting firm run by Kristy Grant-Hart. Hunt joins Spark as a principal adviser and comes to the firm after a year at LifePoint Health, where she had been vice president for compliance program operations. Hunt is also known for her 10 years running audit and compliance at AARP.

Precision Medicine Group is looking for a chief compliance officer. Job is based in Bethesda, Md.
Princeton University is looking for a deputy vice president of audit and compliance. Job is in Princeton, N.J., obviously. Go Tigers!
And food services giant Aramark just posted a bunch of vice president of compliance roles at various U.S. cities this week. Visit the company’s careers page and search for salaried compliance jobs; you’ll get the list.
