As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs News

This week we begin at meatpacking giant JBS, which has hired Nora Feher to head up ethics and compliance for its U.S. operations. Feher comes to JBS from law firm Quinn Emmanuel, where she spent the last seven years as an associate in the firm’s white collar defense practice. Quinn Emmanuel has been representing JBS in several antitrust enforcement actions lately.

Ben Gray has left his job as chief compliance officer at Block, the digital payments company previously known as Square. Gray parted ways with Block to join Plaxos, a cryptocurrency brokerage, as general counsel. He had been head of compliance at Block (or Square) since 2017.

Speaking of financial services, Donna Bartlett has joined JUSTLY Markets, a crowdfunding platform that targets private investment in ESG-related businesses, as chief compliance officer. Bartlett had been a compliance consultant for the last three years, counseling broker-dealer and investment adviser firms; prior to that she was chief compliance officer at First Allied Securities

Christine Gacheru tells us she has been hired by Banijay Group, a media production company responsible for shows such as Big Brother, Survivor, and other reality series, as ethics and compliance counsel. Gacheru previously worked at Nutreco for two years in the Netherlands as an ethics and compliance officer. She starts at Banijay on Feb. 14.

Rob Barker has joined Avalon Funeral Plans, “the U.K.’s most trusted funeral plan provider,” as head of compliance. Barker comes to Avalon from Barclays, where he had been vice president and chief controls officer. He’s based in Manchester, Britain.

UNOPS, the United Nations’ project development arm, has hired Robert Skillington-Smith as an ethics advisor, based in Denmark. Skillington-Smith previously worked as director of ethics and compliance at the InterContinental Hotels Group since 2016.

Chauncey Kelsey is apparently returning to Home Depot to join the company’s compliance function, helping to manage the associate and supplier whistleblower hotlines. Kelsey had previously worked at Home Depot in the HR function until last summer, and then spent the last six months at optical company National Vision

Marina Rosenkrantz has joined BASF as a senior compliance specialist, working in Berlin. Rosenkrantz previously worked at Oppenheimer Funds as compliance manager until 2019. Feel free to read her delightful thank-you note to everyone who offered her advice and support during the pandemic, until she landed this new role.

Mobile phone maker Ericsson has hired Pablo Javier Miranda as a senior corporate investigator, working at Ericsson’s offices in Argentina. Miranda comes to Ericsson from KPMG Argentina, where he had been director of forensic services.

VMWare has promoted Nirupama Pillai, from senior corporate counsel for ethics and compliance to assistant general counsel for ethics and compliance, covering India and other parts of South Asia. Pillai has been with VMWare for two years.

Sanne, an asset management fund based in London, has promoted Michael Barakat from senior compliance associate to assistant director of compliance.

In South Africa, Fanyana Maseko has joined Facebook Meta as regional ethics and compliance manager for that country. Maseko comes to whatever Meta is supposed to be now that it’s not Facebook any more from Shell, where he had been ethics and compliance manager for South Africa since 2018.

Joe Wilson has a new role at Wells Fargo as lead internal audit manager, working out of the bank’s Charlotte hub. Wilson previously worked in data privacy and risk management issues for Wells since his hiring in 2019.

Melanie Toepfer has left Allianz Technology, where she had been global compliance officer. Not sure what she may be doing next.

Likewise, Joy Thoma has left Mastercard, where she had been a senior vice president in the business conduct office. Not sure what she may be doing next either.

Laurentian Bank of Canada has promoted Shawna Sullivan from senior compliance analyst to senior internal auditor. Sullivan has been with Laurentian for three years.

And ChristianaCare, a hospital system headquartered in Wilmington, Del., has hired Rajeeyah Henry as director of compliance operations and governance in the corporate compliance office. (Translation: she runs the day-to-day stuff.) Prior to joining ChristianaCare, Henry was responsible for compliance and privacy operations at an academic health system in New York

Open Req Orders

Bausch Health is looking for a director of ethics and compliance policies, training and data privacy. Job is based in New Jersey.

The University of Vermont is looking for a chief safety and compliance officer. Job is based in Burlington, Vt. Go Catamounts!

And Rabobank is looking for a “chief compliance officer, rural” to work in its Rabo Diversified Services unit. Job is based in Chesterfield, Mo., which is suburban St. Louis, which doesn’t sound rural to me, but whatever.
