Compliance Jobs Report: March 11
The Compliance Jobs Report this week has new hires at Juul Labs, Citadel, TriMark USA, Nike, CEVA Logistics, and a bunch more companies. We also have a few work anniversaries to note; job leads in New York, North Carolina, and Utah; and our Meme of the Week goes out to the banking world.
As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.
Compliance Jobs News
This week we begin at Juul Labs, the beleaguered maker of e-cigarettes, which just hired Robert Mascola as chief compliance officer. Mascola comes to Juul after three years at Fordham University Law School, where he was director of the school’s program on corporate ethics and compliance. (Mascola will continue to teach at the school part-time.) This is somewhat of a homecoming for Mascola; Juul is owned by Altria, which is a descendant of Philip Morris; and earlier in his career Mascola spent 12 years in various ethics and compliance roles at tobacco giant Philip Morris International.
The Port of Houston (in Texas, you may have guessed) has hired Shannon Williams as chief audit executive. Williams had been self-employed as a Sarbanes-Oxley compliance consultant since last summer; prior to that was director of internal audit for Weingarten Realty, headquartered in Houston, for 14 years.
TriMark USA, one of the country’s largest suppliers of restaurant and food service equipment, has hired Jacob Beier as chief compliance officer. Beier previously worked in the U.S. Government Accountability Office for a year as a senior analyst; prior to that he worked at several tech companies in Dubai in senior compliance roles.
WSFS Bank, a commercial and retail bank that serves the Delaware and Philadelphia regions, has promoted Christine Davis from chief auditor to chief risk officer. Davis has been with WSFS for 23 years in various internal audit roles.
Fintech startup iCreditWorks (it delivers “an omnichannel platform experience,” whatever that means) has hired Rajiv Varshney as chief compliance officer. Varshney comes to iCreditWorks from Investors Bank in New Jersey, where he had been chief compliance officer since 2019. Prior to that he spent 16 years at HSBC in numerous regulatory compliance roles.
Laura Weeks has joined Grapefruit, a delightfully named provider of tele-health services, as chief compliance officer. Weeks comes to the New Jersey company after three years at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, where she was associate vice president and regional compliance officer.
A few promotions to note…
First, John Cosgriff, at Boston-based biotech firm Epizyme, has been promoted from director of compliance to senior director. Cosgriff has been with the company since 2020.
Daniel Berrios, at Samsung Electronics America, has been promoted from director of North America trade compliance to senior director. Berrios has been with Samsung since 2016.
And Taylor Tennison has been promoted at Addus Home Care in Texas, from compliance and privacy manager to compliance director. Tennison has been with Addus since 2018.
Amarin Corp., a biopharma company working on medicines for cardiovascular issues, has hired Eliene Smith as director of risk and controls. Smith joins Amarin after 12 years at Lannett Co., most recently as director of internal audit.
In Minnesota, Lesli Wieczorek has joined Tennant Co. as a principal compliance specialist. Wieczorek comes to Tennant (“a recognized leader in the cleaning industry”) from National Recoveries Inc., where she had been director of compliance and regulatory management.
CEVA Logistics has hired Małgorzata Skawińska as a global ethics and compliance manager, based in Poland. Skawińska previously worked at EY for four years as a senior consultant in Warsaw. (Be sure to read our post and podcast from last year about CEVA Logistics building out its compliance function.)
Israeli fintech startup Pagaya has hired Ilan Tzoler as compliance manager. Tzoler comes to the company from Cellebrite (which actually is an analytics firm; I thought it would be a brain biotech or something), where he had been compliance manager since 2019.
Nike (they make sneakers, I do know that) has hired Malin Petrocchi as ethics and compliance manager for its EMEA operations. She’ll be based in the Netherlands. Petrocchi joins Nike from Glencore Agriculture, where she had been regional compliance officer for Europe, Africa, and Asia for three years.
On Wall Street, Sean McHugh has joined Citadel as chief compliance officer for its hedge funds and enterprise complex. McHugh was last seen retiring from Goldman Sachs in 2021 after 20 years there, finishing up as head of international compliance. Just when you think you’re out, they pull you back in…
John DiThomas has joined Robinhood, the online trading app that ran afoul of regulators last year, as director of crypto compliance. DiThomas comes to Robinhood after a year at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, where he had been compliance program manager.
And Tesla has moved its senior director of compliance, David Searle, into the top legal role there — although his official title is “acting head of legal” and I’m quite not sure what that means. Apparently Searle moved into this role in October, but it was only announced this week; and Searle is now the company’s sixth top legal officer in three years. Tesla: great cars, crazy company.

Sarah DiLorenzo is celebrating one year at Twilio as vice president of ethics, compliance, and risk.
