A huge Compliance Jobs Report this week! Compliance officers coming or going at Cummins, Novavax, Moderna, Whole Foods, Citigroup, and many more. Several promotions happening in the healthcare world; political gossip from regulator world; some work anniversaries to note; and job leads in venture capital, pharmaceuticals, and financial services.

As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs News

This week we begin with Fernanda Beraldi, one of the leading voices of ethics in Indianapolis: she has left her job as senior director of ethics and compliance at Cummins (in Indianapolis) to be general counsel and corporate secretary at Inotiv, a pharmaceutical services company (also in Indianapolis). Beraldi had been at Cummins for nearly seven years in various compliance roles. Be sure to read her very nice announcement about the job move on LinkedIn.

Tim Slone has been hired as vice president of global compliance at Novavax, a developer of next-generation vaccines for covid and other illnesses. Slone comes to Novavax after two years at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, where he was compliance lead for medical affairs and global commercial strategy.

Speaking of vaccine makers: Moderna has hired Zoe Philippides as chief ethics, compliance, and privacy officer. Philippides joins Moderna from Anthem, where she had been chief ethics and privacy officer for 15 months; and prior to that she spent 15 years at Amgen in various legal, privacy, and compliance roles.

In Houston, Brightside Health hired Rocky Mosquera as director of compliance. Mosquera previously worked at the Galveston County Health District as chief compliance officer and risk manager.

Patricia Alleyn has a new role at SNC-Lavalin as vice president for ESG and integrity. Alleyn has been with SNC-Lavalin since 2010 in numerous roles, most recently as head of the integrity program since 2016. Nice to see compliance professionals conquering the ESG realm too!

Jeff Gery has joined Alto, an investment platform headquartered in Tennessee, as chief compliance officer. Gery comes to Alto from First Palladium, a broker-dealer services operation, where he had been CEO and chief compliance officer.

Universal Insurance Group, a financial firm in Puerto Rico, has hired Osvaldo Ramirez as financial corporate compliance director. Ramirez previously worked at Clear Blue Financial Holdings, another Puerto Rican financial firm (and one with a much better name), as chief compliance officer.

Daniel Ridley has joined Harvard University as a program manager for risk and compliance. Ridley previously worked at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, affiliated with the University of Washington, as assistant director for financial planning and operations. (Ridley apparently resides in New Haven, Conn., right now, which is the home of Yale University, so I’m wondering how that works out.)

Also in higher education, Penn State has named Tamla Lewis interim athletics integrity officer, effective immediately. Lewis has been with Penn State since 2020 as associate general counsel. She succeeds Bob Boland, who served as the school’s athletics integrity officer from 2017 until stepping down from that role in March.

Philips has promoted Raphael Loschiavo Cerdeira from manager of fraud investigations for the Americas region to senior manager. He’s based in Panama and has been with Philips since 2019.

Remember that update from Anne DeTraglia last week, that she was leaving her job as a fraud risk manager at Nike and “a new adventure begins”? Looks like she has joined Whole Foods as executive leader for enterprise risk.

Pharmaceutical firm Ipsen has expanded the role of Ali Lyons, from head of U.S. ethics and compliance to global head of ethics and compliance. Lyons has been with Ipsen for two years.

In Buffalo, N.Y., a new job for Steve Konieczek: he has joined Citigroup as vice president and compliance product officer for broker-dealer operations. Konieczek previously worked at M&T Bank for seven years in various legal and compliance roles, most recently as senior compliance consultant.

Kelly Singh has joined Geneva Financial, a mortgage lender based in Arizona, as chief compliance officer. Singh comes to Geneva from USAA, where she had been director of business risk and controls.

LifePoint Health has promoted Tizgel High from deputy chief compliance officer to chief compliance and privacy officer. High has been with LifePoint since 2012 in numerous legal and compliance roles. The compliance roles are way cooler, of course.

Meanwhile, TriHealth has expanded the role of Candice Kramer, from chief compliance and privacy officer to chief compliance, privacy, and audit officer. Kramer has been with TriHealth since 2018.

And one more promotion, all the way from Alaska: the Bristol Bay Native Corp. has promoted Renée Wardlaw from senior director of corporate compliance to vice president for corporate compliance. Wardlaw has been with Bristol Bay since 2017.

Rashad Kirby has joined Janssen Pharmaceuticals, the vaccine subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, as healthcare compliance officer. Kirby comes to Janssen from Radius Health, where he had been deputy compliance officer.

HSBC has promoted Karim Niraoui to chief compliance officer for HSBC’s Luxembourg operations. Niraoui had previously been head of regulatory affairs for the Middle East region, working from Dubai.

From the Philippines, Catherine Chiong has been named chief compliance officer at Maya Bank, the online payments subsidiary of Paymaya Bank. Choing comes to Maya from Ant Group, the Chinese financial giant, where she had been senior compliance adviser for the Philippines region.

And in regulator world, the Biden Administration has nominated two men to join the Securities and Exchange Commission. Jaime Lizárraga has been nominated as a Democratic commissioner, to succeed Allison Herren Lee (who plans to leave the SEC as soon as a successor is confirmed). Lizárraga has been an aide to House speaker Nancy Pelosi since 2011. Biden also nominated Mark Udeya as a Republican commissioner to fill the vacancy left by Elad Roisman, who left the SEC earlier this year. Udeya is an SEC staffer temporarily seconded to the Senate Banking Committee. Both nominations need Senate confirmation, but advancing Republican and Democrat nominations in pairs typically defuses any chance of someone’s nomination stalling out.

Milestones

Jessica Cossalter is celebrating one year at Levi Strauss as senior director of global ethics & compliance.

Julie Dean just hit one year as chief compliance and privacy officer at the University of Miami Health System.

Breann McNeil is celebrating one year at Cummins as a senior manager for regulatory compliance.

Open Req Orders

AngelList, a service that brings together entrepreneurs and angel investors, has two compliance jobs it is looking to fill: a compliance associate and a compliance operations lead. Both jobs can be remote or at one of several AngelList hub cities across the United States.

Syneos Health, a pharmaceutical company based in North Carolina, is looking for a deputy chief compliance officer.

State Street Corp. is looking for a chief compliance officer. Job is based in Boston, probably in that sleek new high-rise State Street is building downtown.
