Compliance Jobs News
This week we begin in the biotech world. First, Apellis Pharmaceuticals, a biopharma business based in suburban Boston, has hired Sarah Whipple as global chief compliance officer. Whipple comes to Apellis from Akebia Therapeutics, where she also had been chief compliance officer.
Next, Christian Dingler has joined biopharma research firm Insmed as senior director of risk management in the company’s global compliance department, reporting to global compliance chief Tiffany Cummings-Damiani. Dingler is moving in-house after 11 years in healthcare compliance consulting, most recently at Epsilon Life Sciences.
And one more from biopharma: Regeneron has promoted Melissa Lozner, from deputy chief compliance officer to compliance officer. Lozner joined Regeneron at the start of this year.
We also have a trio of moves in the cryptocurrency world. First, crypto exchange Gemini Trust Corp. has promoted Christopher Mariadason to chief compliance officer. Mariadason joined Gemini in 2021 and had been head of program governance. He succeeds Elena Hughes, who had been CCO since last year; Hughes left Gemini in August to take a supervision job at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Second, Canadian crypto exchange CoinSmart Financial has named Sheereen Khan chief compliance officer. Khan comes to the firm after one year at Coinberry, a rival Canadian crypto firm, where she had been chief compliance officer.
And third, Steven Christie quietly joined Binance as senior vice president of compliance several months ago. Christie had previously been head of compliance at Kraken, a rival cryptocurrency platform, for four years.
Katie Schellenger has left her job at Qurate Retail Group, where she had been director of ethics and compliance for the last five years. What next? She’s now at fashion retailer Tory Burch as senior counsel for compliance.
The University of Texas has promoted Jason King to be chief ethics and compliance officer for the entire UTex system. King has been with UTex in various ethics and compliance roles for 10 years.
In Cincinnati, Steven Clark has joined Western & Southern Financial Group as a regulatory compliance specialist. Clark comes to W&S from Ohio National Financial Services, where he had been a corporate compliance executive for three years.
Another from Cincinnati! Kettering Health, a healthcare system there, has promoted Audrey Adams Mondock from senior counsel for labor and employment to chief compliance officer. Mondock has been with the company since 2020.
Livia Granata has joined the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg as compliance monitoring officer. Granata previously worked at Amazon.com for eight years in various roles, most recently as EU compliance operations manager.
McKinsey & Co. has hired Julie Gershman as director of ethics. Gershman comes to the consulting giant after several years running her own compliance consulting practice, SolutionJewels Corp. She was also global ethics officer at Prudential Financial in the late 2010s.
Alicia McKeighan has left her job as chief compliance officer at Afni, an outsourcing firm based in Illinois; take a job at financial services firm ConServe as associate vice president. McKeighan had been in various roles at Afni for 14 years.
Mercore, a London-based fintech firm working in trade finance, has hired Kevin Dowling as chief compliance officer. Mercore scooped Dowling from Banco Santander, where he most recently had been head of financial crime oversight.
Dragados USA, the U.S. subsidiary of the Spanish construction and engineering giant of the same name, has promoted John Hughes from regional ethics and compliance manager to corporate ethics and compliance manager. Hughes has been with the firm since 2019.
Will Maher has been hired at U.S. engineering firm KBR as vice president of internal audit. Maher previously spent five years at BWX Technologies, also as vice president of internal audit.
Fiserv has shifted Scott Crowell into a new role, moving him from vice president of risk and compliance to vice president of global third-party audit. Crowell has been with Fiserv since 2015.
Nouryon, a chemical manufacturer based in the Netherlands, has expanded the role of Priscilla Ahn from compliance manager to privacy officer and compliance manager. Ahn, based in New York, has been with Nouryon for two years.
Brite Payments, a payments startup in Sweden, has hired Lisa Edström as compliance director. Edström joins Brite from Zettle, a payments subsidiary of PayPal, where she had been chief compliance officer.
And Aparna Murthy has joined JP Morgan Chase as vice president of controls. Murthy had been working at E&Y since late last year in its business consulting practice; prior to that she had been a business controls manager at Bank of America and also worked at Fossil Group in the 2010s.
Milestones
Joy Hayes (who goes by “Joy of Ethics” in her LinkedIn ID) is celebrating one year at Activision Blizzard as senior director of ethics and compliance.
Tobias Thibaut just hit one year at Beam Suntory as international compliance officer, working from Madrid.
Nadège Rochel is celebrating one year with Janssen Pharmaceuticals (subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson) as country healthcare compliance officer in Italy.
Rena Moakeh is celebrating one year at Google as a global risk and compliance manager, working from Atlanta.
Severin Wirtz just hit five years at TIAA, the financial services firm for education professionals, where he is senior director of anti-corruption compliance.
Vincenzo Caccioppoli is celebrating five years at Amazon.com, where he is senior manager for transportation risk and compliance in Europe.
