Compliance Jobs News

This week we begin with a changing of the guard at Credit Suisse. The perpetually troubled Swiss investment bank is parting ways with chief compliance officer Raphael Lorenzo, who had been CCO for the last 12 months and worked in various audit and risk roles at the bank for six years before that. The bank says Lorenzo decided to leave for personal reasons. Succeeding him is Nita Patel, who joined Credit Suisse in May 2021. She has been chief compliance officer for the bank’s asset management and U.K. investment bank since the start of this year.

Forrest Deegan has been promoted at Victoria’s Secret, from vice president of compliance to chief ethics and compliance officer. Deegan has been with the lingerie giant since last year.

Acadia Healthcare, a network of behavioral healthcare facilities headquartered in Tennessee, has hired Bill Priest as chief compliance officer. Priest previously worked at U.S. Anesthesia Partners as chief compliance officer for eight years.

In online gambling, BetMGM has hired Rhea Loney as chief compliance officer. Loney previously worked at Penn Interactive, another online gambling business, as vice president of compliance and regulatory affairs.

Axsome Therapeutics, a biotech startup exploring treatments for nervous system disorders (oh; the name is Axsome, nerve cells are axons — I get it now) has hired Richard Velardi as director of compliance. Velardi joins Axsome after a year at PwC, where he had been in the healthcare compliance practice; prior to that he worked at SK Life Science

Melinda Burrows has joined Cornerstone Building Brands in North Carolina as assistant general counsel for compliance. Burrows comes to the company PRA Health Sciences, where she had been global compliance officer and assistant general counsel.

Nicki Campbell has taken a new job at CareFirst BlueCross/BlueShield in Maryland as director of ethics and compliance. She had previously been director of compliance operations for Penn State Health for four years.

Citigroup has promoted Nvèr Hasratyan to senior vice president for bank and regulatory risk transformation. Hasratyan had previously managed bank holding company regulations for Citi.

In France, TotalEnergies has hired Lubana Abdou-Barrière as senior compliance counsel. She comes to the energy giant from Bein Media Group, where she had also been senior compliance counsel.

Fresenius Medical Care has hired Vishal Kapoor as compliance lead for India and South Asia. Kapoor joins Fresenius after 12 years at Eli Lilly, the last six of those years as an ethics and compliance specialist for India.

Binance.US, the kinda sorta independent U.S. division of cryptocurrency giant Binance, has hired B.J. Kang as its first head of internal investigations. Kang joins the firm after a long career at the FBI, including seven years in the FBI’s cyber crime division.

And in Dubai, the digital bank Zand has hired Muhammed Ahmed Shabbir as a senior manager for AML and counter-terrorism compliance. Shabbir joins Zand from Commercial Bank International, where he had been assistant manager for AML and counter-terrorism issues.

Milestones

Daniel Trujillo is celebrating one year as global chief compliance officer for consulting giant McKinsey

Yelena Gurgova is celebrating five years at Pall Corp. (now a subsidiary of Danaher Corp.), where she is senior compliance counsel.

Juanita Li is celebrating five years at State Street as head of compliance for Asia Pacific.

Thomas Rensvold just hit 10 years as chief compliance officer for Empire State Financial in New York.

And for lack of anywhere better to put this item: remember that retaliation lawsuit filed earlier this year against J.P. Morgan, by former compliance executive Shaquala Williams? The parties settled the lawsuit this week, rather than go to trial.

Vendors & Service Providers

Jisha Dymond has joined GRC vendor OneTrust as chief ethics and compliance officer and head of the company’s ethics and compliance center of excellence. Dymond arrives at OneTrust after three years at Twitter, where most recently she had been head of regulatory compliance and risk. Good timing for her, considering the housecleaning going on there with new supremo Elon Musk.

Toshiba America is looking for a corporate ethics and compliance officer. This job is also remote, with the in-person component based in Houston.
