Compliance Jobs Report: Dec. 23
Our final Compliance Jobs Report of 2022, but that doesn’t mean we’re light on news to report! This week we have moves happening at Synovus, BNP Paribas, Boston Scientific, Synchrony, and elsewhere. We also have job leads in higher education, package delivery, and retail; and our Meme of the Week is a shout to the holidays!
As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn .
Compliance Jobs News
This week we begin down south. Synovus, a mid-tier bank based in Georgia, has hired Michael Colasso as executive director of enterprise and operational risk. Colasso previously worked at Truist, the larger but worse-named bank based in North Carolina, where he had been head of enterprise risk management programs. At Synovus he will report to chief risk officer Shellie Creson.
And another Truist departure: Tiffany Johnson, who had been vice president for consumer credit compliance, has left the bank to take a job with Regions Bank as assistant general counsel. Johnson had been with Truist for four years.
BNP Paribas has announced that Emmanuelle Bury, chief compliance officer for BNP’s Americas region, will take over as head of the bank’s U.K. operations early next year (like, head of all operations there, not U.K. compliance chief). Bury succeeds Anne Marie Verstraeten, who will become vice-chair of BNP’s U.K. operations.
Dinara, a cryptocurrency startup, has hired Victor Guerra as chief compliance officer. Guerra joins the company after five years at PrePaid-USA, where he had been chief compliance officer.
In Houston, Cherie Chen has joined Boston Scientific as a principal for business controls transformation. Chen comes to the medical device giant after almost six years at Applied Optoelectronics, where she most recently had been head of internal audit.
Hydraflow, a company that makes fluidic components for the aerospace industry, has hired David Feldman as manager of contracts and compliance. Feldman joins the California-based company from Morrison Express, where he had been a manager of legal and risk management.
GEHA Health has given Shannon Flaig a new role, moving her from subsidiary compliance officer to be supervisor of credentialing. Flaig has been with GEHA, an insurance plan for federal government employees, for 12 years.
Austin Ericson has joined Star Mountain Capital as chief compliance officer and legal counsel. Ericson comes to Star Mountain, which provides funding to small businesses, after four years at HIG Capital, where he had been assistant general counsel.
Family Asthma & Allergy, a medical practice across the Midwest based in Kentucky, has expanded the role of chief compliance officer Robert Foster; he’s now senior director for the revenue cycle, too. Foster has been with Family Asthma since last year.
The Australian Stock Exchange says Daniel Moran will become its permanent new chief compliance officer starting Jan. 1. Moran had been acting chief compliance officer since October, and has been with ASX in various legal and corporate secretary roles for 12 years. ASX has been through a bit of C-suite tumult this year, with a new CEO and new CFO, too.
Just next door in New Zealand, Pierre Booysen is joining Cannasouth as chief compliance officer. Booysen comes to the company, which is researching medical uses for the stuff in weed that gets you high, from New Zealand’s Ministry of Health — where he had been team leader for the ministry’s medical cannabis agency.
Lenoir-Rhyne University, a small school in Hickory, N.C., has hired Andrew Stafford as assistant athletic director for compliance. Stafford comes to Hickory from Elon University where he was most recently serving as assistant director of compliance.
And Mark Martinelli has retired from Synchrony, the financial technology firm, where he had been chief audit executive since 2014. Very nice departure note he posted on LinkedIn. No word yet on who might succeed him in the CAE role at Synchrony.
