Compliance Jobs News
This week we begin at Starbucks, which just named Shelly Ranus acting chief ethics and compliance officer. She succeeds Tyson Avery, who had been CCO since the end of 2019 but left several weeks ago for reasons unknown. Ranus has been with Starbucks in various roles for 16 years, most recently as assistant general counsel of brand protection.
General Electric has announced that its chief compliance officer, Amber Kagan, will be the chief compliance officer of GE Vernova, the energy business that GE is spinning off into a stand-alone company in 2024. Kagan has been with GE since 2016, and been chief compliance officer since 2019.
New York Life, largest mutual life insurer in the United States, has named Sandi Tillotson chief compliance officer. Tillotson has been with New York Life since 2018, and had been vice president of corporate compliance before this promotion. She succeeds Sara Badler, who retired at the end of 2022.
Chemicals manufacturer Nouryon has hired Bryan Sgrignoli as chief compliance officer. Sgrignoli previously worked at W.L. Gore & Associates, most recently as global compliance officer. He succeeds Samantha Yarborough, who had been Nouryon’s CCO until earlier this year.
Catherine Muldoon has joined Perdue Farms as chief compliance officer. Muldoon arrives at the food giant after 15 months at Baldor Specialty Foods, where she had been general counsel.
Callie Pappas has stepped down from Schnitzer Steel, where she had been chief ethics and compliance officer since 2019 (and had served in numerous other roles there since 2006). Seems like Pappas is now hanging a shingle as a solo compliance consultant from her home in Portland, Oreg.
Engineering services giant Linde has promoted Fabricio Nunes, from global chief compliance officer to associate general counsel and head of legal for clean energy. Nunes joined Linde as CCO in 2019. Succeeding him in that role seems to be Karin Griggel, a Linde legal executive who moved into the CCO role at the start of this year.
Natalie Walker has joined TikTok as senior compliance counsel, working on data security issues for the social media company. Walker joins TikTok from Verizon, where most recently she had been counsel in its financial products group.
Remember David Searle, former head of compliance at Tesla and chief international compliance officer at Walmart before that? Just joined Sunnova Energy in Houston as general counsel.
Mr. Cooper, a home mortgage services provider based in Texas, has hired Christine Paxton as chief risk and compliance officer. Paxton comes to Mr. Cooper from Wells Fargo, where she had been senior vice president for risk and controls since 2021, but this is a homecoming for Paxton: she had previously been head of enterprise risk for Mr. Cooper from 2018 to 2021.
Boston-based Nuance Communications has promoted Jean Liu from chief privacy officer to chief legal, privacy, and compliance officer. Liu has been with Nuance since 2019.
In Brazil, Fellipe Corrêa has joined fintech firm KLYM as senior compliance and governance officer. Corrêa comes to the firm, which is based in Colombia, after a year as a GRC consultant with advisory firm Procsy.
Also in Brazil, mining giant Vale has promoted Gustavo Niskier from data protection officer and sanctions compliance officer to director of privacy and trade compliance. Niskier has been with Vale since 2012.
Bloomberg has promoted Carlos Victoria to be team lead on its vendor information risk management program. He had been a member of the vendor risk group since mid-2021.
Pharmaceutical maker Indivior has promoted Alpa Piparia, from global anti-bribery compliance officer to deputy integrity and compliance officer. Piparia, who is based in London, has been with Invidior since 2019l
Kathi Samuels has a new job as vice president of corporate compliance at Capital Rx, a pharmaceutical benefits manager. Samuels comes to the company from Papa Inc., where she also had been vice president of corporate compliance.
Shirit Keynan is leaving Teva Pharmaceuticals after seven years there, most recently as director of compliance audit. No word yet on what Keynan is doing next, but she bid Teva a fond farewell and promises an update on her next gig soon.
Stamford Health has promoted Cheryl Gilbert from compliance and privacy manager to compliance and privacy director.
Jeld-Wen, manufacturer and wholesale provider of windows and doors, has promoted Pat Ryder from manager of compliance and legal operations to senior manager.
And Kinetic Investment Management, a registered investment adviser in Los Angeles, has hired Dawn Rybak as chief compliance officer. Rybak previously worked as director of regulatory compliance for TruChoice Financial, a distributor of insurance products.
Milestones
Jacob Beier is celebrating one year at TriMark USA, where he is chief compliance officer.
Elizabeth Owen, who identifies as a “BSA compliance nerd,” is celebrating one year at MVB Bank in West Virginia, where she is (naturally) head of BSA compliance.
Robert Mascola is celebrating one year as chief compliance officer at Juul Labs.
Adrian Mebane just hit one year at AmeriHealth Caritas as chief risk officer.
Joanna Castaldi-Reynolds is celebrating 10 years at ADT, where she is senior manager of legal, compliance, and ethics.
Open Req Orders
Walmart is looking for a director of global anti-corruption compliance controls. Job is based at the mothership in Bentonville, Ark. LinkedIn estimates the salary range at $99,000 to $155,000, for whatever that’s worth.
Discover Financial Services is looking for a deputy chief auditor. Job is based in suburban Chicago.
Citigroup is looking for a global SOX compliance program manager. Job is based in New York. Salary range is listed at $170,000 to $300,000, which is so broad as to be nearly useless.
