Dispatches From SCCE Europe 2023

The Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics is holding its annual European conference this week in Amsterdam. Alas, Radical Compliance could not be there in person, so we’ve been scouring social media to see what others have been saying about the event. Below are a few names, faces, photos, and dispatches from the Netherlands!

Roughly 300 people attended this year, SCCE’s first in-person European conference since 2019. You can find various photos and observations about the event under the hashtags #SCCEecei, #SCCE, or #eCEI.

We begin, of course, at the beginning.

Monitoring the effectiveness of one’s compliance program is critically important these days. Several speakers tackled that subject on Tuesday.

Shameless bit of self-promotion: one attendee sent me this photo from a session she attended. It refers to a post about compliance dashboards that I wrote in 2016, which is of course timeless.

Encouraging a speakup culture, another important subject for compliance officers, was on the agenda too.

Several people praised a session on Airbus’s FCPA compliance journey, in a session led by Vera Cherepova.

Gotta get your schmooze on.

Not all sessions were confined to the European market.

I’m all for sparse design of PPT decks, but wow. Next level.

Swag alert.

Congratulations to SCCE for a successful return to in-person events in Europe, and thank you to all who shared their insights (and their posts on social media, shamelessly re-circulated here). We look forward to the SCCE North America conference happening in Chicago in October!
