Compliance Jobs Report: March 24

This week the Compliance Jobs Report notes new compliance leaders at Mastercard and Danske Bank; chief audit executive moves at CVS Health and University of Utah; and other promotions and personnel moves elsewhere. Job leads this week are in medical devices, cash, and consumer goods. Meme of the Week goes out to defective compliance programs!

Compliance Jobs News

This week we begin at Mastercard, which has promoted Howard Fields from head of trade sanctions and export controls compliance to chief compliance officer. Fields joined Mastercard in 2015; earlier in his career he worked at General Electric. He succeeds Karen Griffin, who was promoted to be Mastercard’s chief risk officer last month. 

Danske Bank is promoting its chief audit executive, Dorthe Tolborg, to be chief compliance officer. Tolborg has been with the bank since 2014. She succeeds Satnam Lehal, who announced at the start of this year that he would leave by the start of next year. This means that Tolborg would be the one certifying the effectiveness of the bank’s compliance program at the end of 2025, per its massive anti-money laundering settlement with the Justice Department (assuming she stays in the role). 

CVS Health has promoted David Chavez, from chief audit executive to CFO for shared services. Chavez has been with CVS since 2021.

Ryan Fishman has joined Nesto, a mortgage services startup based in Montreal, as principal for GRC. Fishman comes to the firm Caary Capital in Toronto (yes, spelled with two As), where he had been director of internal audit and compliance. 

EXA Infrastructure, a fiber optics company based in London, has hired Dominique Conteh as chief compliance officer. Conteh previously worked at the BBC as head of compliance, and at telecom company O2 before that. 

Citibank has promoted Deanna Toussaint, from vice president of AML investigations to senior vice president and compliance product senior officer. Toussaint has been with Citi in various roles since 2015.

The University of Utah has hired Hollie Andrus as the school system’s new chief audit executive. Andrus comes to the university after three years as deputy state auditor for Utah. She succeeds Randy Van Dyke, who is retiring — after serving as CAE for 40 years!!!

Innovative Management Systems, a California-based provider of IT services to medical practices, has hired Tammy Duong as senior manager of audit and compliance. Duong joins IMS from Clever Care Health Plan, where she had been manager of audit and compliance. 

Neal Treanor has joined 1251 Capital, a financial services firm in Boston, as compliance officer. Treanor comes to 1251 from Wellington Management, where he had been compliance officer since 2019.

Milestones

Reno Mathews just hit one year as chief compliance officer at Trulio. 

Catherine Oliver-Salbilla is celebrating one year at Ardagh Group in Chicago, where she is compliance counsel. 

Elijah Wreh is celebrating one year at Boston Scientific, where he is senior manager for regulatory affairs. 

And Martha Sarra just hit 25 years at Kroger, where she is chief ethics and compliance officer (and has been since 2011). 

Vendors & Service Providers

Ankura Consulting, which works in forensics, due diligence, and related services (and also throws good parties at compliance conferences), has acquired Chartwell Compliance to expand Ankura’s banking practice.

Open Req Orders

Newell Brands is looking for a chief ethics and compliance officer. Job is based in Atlanta. The CCO manages a department of seven, with three direct reports. 

AbbVie is looking for a senior global compliance auditor. Job is based in Chicago. The job description warns that this role involves “continuous sitting for prolonged periods,” so train your posterior accordingly.

Brinks, the cash management and security company, is hiring a SOX compliance manager. Job is based in Coppell, Texas, just outside Dallas.
