Compliance Jobs Report: May 12

The Compliance Jobs Report this week includes a few compliance officers departing from their employers, voluntary or otherwise; plus hires at Renault, Toyota, Sionic, and elsewhere. We also have job leads in auto parts, medical devices, and public health; and Meme of the Week goes out to corrupt business agents!

As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at mkelly@radicalcompliance.com or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs News

This week we begin with Wendy Badger, chief compliance officer at Tennant Co. — who stepped down from that job last week, “to take some time off and figure out what’s next.” Badger had been CCO at Tennant since the start of 2021; earlier in her career was chief compliance officer at ECMC Group. We wish her well in whatever comes next, and applaud her for reminding us that it’s OK to step away from the corporate grind.

Sionic, a payments technology provider, has hired Susan Currey as chief compliance officer. Currey comes to the company after six years in various roles at PayPal, most recently as head of the global risk and compliance program.

Toyota Motor Corp. has hired Paresh Chiney as senior director of risk reporting and data analytics. Chiney joins Toyota from consulting firm Stone Turn Group, where he had been a partner. Chiney is the latest in a string of departures from Stone Turn lately.

Compliance jobsFernando Herrera has joined Robeco, an asset management firm based in Rotterdam, as local compliance officer (he’s based in Miami, so I assume that means Latin America and the U.S. market) and head of AML compliance. Herrera comes to Robeco after 10 years with HSBC Private Bank, where he had been head of specialized compliance.

NTT Data Services has promoted Bill Sun, from director of compliance to senior director. Sun has been with the company for 10 years.

Renault has hired Litza Catlin as senior accounting director. Catlin comes to the French car giant from ABB, where she had been head of assurance, risk, and internal control until last summer. (And then took a few months off to develop a book on ESG and internal control issues!)

Brian Kersten has been laid off from Silicon Valley Bank, where he had been KYC compliance manager. Kersten had been with the bank in various roles for the last five years. Kudos to him for announcing his separation publicly; it sucks but there’s no shame in it.

Christina Frederique has joined MMM Holdings, a Medicare and Medicaid insurance business operating in Puerto Rico, as director of pharmacy regulatory oversight. Frederique had previously been compliance initiatives manager at MCS Puerto Rico, another health insurance business there.

IndusInd Bank, one of the larger consumer banks in India, has promoted Murlidhar Lakhara from chief compliance officer to head of assurance. Lakhara has been with the bank since 2017.

In Spain, CaixaBank has promoted Mabel Morales from AML/sanctions compliance analyst to international compliance and risk management. Morales has been with Caixa for five years.

And we have two compliance professionals sliding over from one corporate entity to another.

First, Kelly Montanaro went from GE Capital, where she had been senior compliance director for energy finance; to a similar role at GE Vernova, the conglomerate’s new green energy division.

Second, Francia Gómez, who had been a healthcare compliance specialist for Latin America within the Johnson & Johnson empire, took that role and migrated to Kenvue, the personal care products division that J&J spun off last week.

Party Pics

Congratulations to the Institute of Internal Auditors’ Northeast District (New England and New York chapters), which this week held its first in-person conference since 2018. Nearly 300 audit professionals gathered at Mohegan Sun and the agenda was top-notch. One spy at the event sent this photo of the cocktail reception.
