As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.
Compliance Jobs News
This week we begin with an update on Mary Shirley, famed co-host of the Great Women in Compliance podcast and regular speaker on the compliance conference circuit. Shirley left Fresenius Medical Care last month, where she had been head of culture of integrity and compliance education. This week she announced that she’s now at Masimo, a medtech company that makes monitoring devices, as head of compliance. She has also relocated from Boston to southern California, a great loss for the Boston compliance community. We wish her well.
Holli Lewis has left her job as chief compliance officer at Brown-Forman, the spirits maker responsible for Jack Daniels; to take a job as general counsel at Packsize, a stylishly named product packaging company. No word yet on who might succeed her as CCO at Brown-Forman.
Texas Bank and Trust has promoted Melinda Beatty from vice president and compliance officer to chief compliance officer. Beatty has been with the bank in various roles for 17 years.
Shawn Rogers has joined Stanley Black & Decker as senior director of global ethics and compliance. Rogers comes to the hardware giant from Walmart the retail giant, where he had also been a senior director of ethics and compliance since 2019.
Aerospace manufacturer Meggitt has promised Kelly Hubbard, from senior trade compliance manager to division compliance manager.
Ally, the auto-loan financing giant headquartered in Detroit, has promoted Colin Olson from compliance analyst to manager of privacy compliance. Olson has been at Ally in various roles for 10 years.
PenFed Credit Union has hired Terry Grafenstine as chief audit executive. Grafenstine comes to PenFed (second-largest credit union in the United States) after four years at Citigroup, most recently as global chief auditor for technology, data, and business services. She also serves on the board of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
In Brazil, Lucas de Lorena has a new job at China Construction Bank as an analyst on the AML/CFT compliance team. De Lorena previously worked for five years at Riachuelo, a large fashion retailer in Brazil, as a compliance and corporate governance attorney.
And Jessica Mazza, deputy chief auditor at financial services firm TIAA, has joined the board of directors at Itasca Bank & Trust, a community bank in suburban Chicago. More audit and compliance professionals on boards!
Vendors and Service Providers
Tony Phillips has quit his job at Facebook Meta, where he had been associate general counsel for integrity matters, to join law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw as partner focusing on compliance and investigations.
Remember Luis Sanchez, ethics and compliance manager for Millicom’s Latin America market until earlier this year? He just hung out his own shingle as a compliance consultant, with a firm called Ethixlink. Based in Coral Gables, Fla.
Grant Thornton is laying off 300 people, about 3 percent of its total workforce, mostly in its advisory and tax divisions. Just the latest in a long line of accounting and advisory firms trimming headcount this year; but if your business is in need of expertise you might look here.
Milestones
Rosalyn Accostupa is celebrating one year at CONFIEP, an economic development association, as integrity officer.
Kalisa Barratt is celebrating one year at Shields Health Solutions, as chief compliance and privacy officer.
George Lewis is celebrating one year at Citibank as vice president of HR risk and controls.
Mark Boone is celebrating five years at Bausch Health Cos., where he is head of global enterprise risk management and ESG.
And Maria Sonin just hit five years at BAE Systems, where she is ethics program manager.
Open Req Orders
The Orange County, Calif., employee retirement system is looking for a chief compliance officer. Oddly, the listing doesn’t actually specify where this job is based, but I assume it’s Orange County. Salary range is $150,000 to $232,000.
Chewy.com, the online pet food retailer, is advertising for two corporate compliance and ethics manager roles: one in Bellevue, Wash., and the other in Plantation, Fla. Salary for the job in Washington is listed at $91,000 to $176,000. The job in Florida lists no salary range at all because, ya know, Florida.
Louis Vuitton is looking for a director of internal control. Job is based in New York. Listed salary is $205,000 per year, which I’m led to understand is equal to about five LV handbags.
