Compliance Jobs Report: June 16

The Compliance Jobs Report rolls onward, this week with new hires at Pinterest, Dentsply Sirona, CellMark, Ericsson, Grail, and elsewhere. We also have some promotions and work anniversaries to note; job leads in biotech research, financial services, and shipping; and Meme of the Week goes out to boards that just don’t get it.

As always, thank you to all the compliance people sending me tips and links to keep this report going. We need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs News

This week we begin at Pinterest, which just named Jenny Chung Savidge chief ethics and compliance officer. Savidge comes to the social media site from TikTok, where she had spent the last year as head of legal and compliance for U.S. operations. Prior to TikTok, Savidge had been head of privacy, compliance, and risk at IHS Markit

Michael Pacella has joined Dentsply Sirona as chief compliance officer. Pacella joins the dental products giant after four years at Covertus, where he had been global chief ethics and compliance officer. This would be the same Dentsply Sirona that last year disclosed an investigation to fraudulent financial reporting

Looks like Nita Patel is holding onto her job as chief compliance officer after healthy Swiss banking giant UBS acquired troubled Swiss banking giant Credit Suisse earlier this year. Patel had been CCO of Credit Suisse since early 2022. UBS closed its merger with Credit Suisse earlier this month and just announced a bunch of executive appointments; Patel was on the survivor list. David Wildermuth, who had been Credit Suisse’s chief risk officer, also turned up as UBS’ chief risk officer for the Americas.

Brigham Young University–Hawaii (yes, BYU has a campus out there) has named Mark Fitzgerald chief compliance officer. Fitzgerald comes to the school after 17 years in various roles at Boise State University in Idaho, most recently as chief information security officer. He succeeds David Galloway, who is retiring.

Two compliance hires from Ericsson to note this week. First, the company has hired Jacqueline Peterson as a senior compliance officer, working from Peterson’s home court in Dallas; she previously was on the advisory board for the Center for Leadership Ethics at the University of Arizona. Also joining the telecom giant is Claudia Davila Silva, as market compliance officer. Silva previously worked at Braskem Idesa in Mexico as a compliance specialist.

Michelle Turano has a new role at Elevance Health, moving from vice president of Medicare compliance to vice president of government business compliance.

In the United Kingdom, Tatiana Longhi has joined Philips as trade compliance officer. Longhi previously worked at CNH Industrial for two years managing global trade compliance.

Alexander Frimanson has joined CellMark, a supply chain services company based in Sweden, as ESG and compliance officer. Frimanson joins CellMark after seven years at Volvo, where most recently he was ethics and compliance officer. Fun fact: Frimanson now works with Cédric Dubar, who heads up ethics and compliance at the company.

Grail, a biotech startup working on cancer research, has hired Andrea Pons as senior corporate compliance counsel. Pons comes to the San Francisco company from Color Health, a tech firm working on public health issues, where she had been compliance counsel.

Promoted: Abby Dawes Colombo, at U.S. Bank, from senior director of compliance for consumer payments to senior vice president for operations risk, financial crime, and regulatory compliance. Colombo has been with U.S. Bank for almost three years.

Also promoted: Rob Pruyn, at Locus Robotics in Boston, from senior compliance analyst to senior compliance lead. Pruyn has been with Locus for two years.

Mariva Capital Markets, a wealth management firm based in Argentina, has hired Robert Lebowitz as chief compliance officer. Lebowitz comes to Mariva after six years at Credit Andorra, where he had been vice president working on regulatory compliance issues. Like any good compliance professional in Latin America financial services, he’s based in Miami.

Down in Australia, Olesya Chugunova has joined Rentokil Initial, a player in the pest control and environmental services sector, as an internal control analyst. Chugunova previously worked at Kimberly Clark as an internal controls and business process lead.

And in South Africa, African Bank has named Lindelwa Thandekile Choma chief compliance officer
