Compliance Jobs News
This week we begin with drug distribution giant McKesson. Its chief compliance officer Laura O’Donnell is leaving the company to join Verily Life Sciences, one of the smaller firms within Google’s empire, as general counsel. O’Donnell joined McKesson as chief compliance officer in 2019; prior to that she had been a senior legal and compliance executive at GE Healthcare. No word yet on who might succeed O’Donnell at McKesson.
John Roth is leaving his job as vice president of ethics and investigations at Fannie Mae. Roth has been with the mortgage giant for three years; prior to that he was head of compliance at Bittrex and inspector general at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Roth says he had a “terrific” time at Fannie Mae and is happy to talk with anyone who might want to apply for his old role (which Fannie Mae is looking to fill; details on that in the Open Req Orders section below).
Miaja Cassidy has left her job as chief compliance officer at Medtronic, where she had been since 2019; to join Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota as chief legal officer. Cassidy has also done consulting in the healthcare sector.
MSA Safety, a Pittsburgh-based manufacturer of safety equipment, is promoting chief compliance officer Richard Roda to chief legal officer. Roda has been CCO (and deputy general counsel, a title less cool than CCO) at MSA since 2013, and has worked in other roles at the company all the way back to 1995. He succeeds Stephanie Sciullo, who was recently promoted to run MSA’s Americas division. No word on who, if anyone, might succeed Roda in the CCO role.
Agilon Health, a startup healthcare technology firm, has hired Tim Feher as chief ethics, compliance, and risk officer. Feher joins Agilon after three years as director of compliance at Cotiviti, another healthcare technology firm.
RELI Group, an IT services firm that supports government contractors, has hired Colleen Golden as an audit specialist. Golden previously worked at Select Rehabilitation in Illinois as compliance manager.
A somewhat mysterious update from Ann Sharp, who until last year had been at Wells Fargo running compliance and operational risk testing. Sharp left Wells Fargo in mid-2022 for a travel break; now she says she is joining Cisco Systems, but hasn’t specified exactly when she’ll join or what she’ll do there. Cisco certainly has plenty of compliance and risk management needs so we trust it will be something interesting.
Nathália Myers has joined State Employees Credit Union, the largest credit union in North Carolina; she’s vice president of contracts administration. Myers previously worked at software firm Splunk as contracts administrator.
Sandstone Care, a mental health and addiction treatment facility in Denver, has hired Kevin Dill as chief compliance officer. Dill comes to Sandstone after six years at Tabula Rasa Healthcare in New Jersey, where most recently he was general counsel.
Promoted: Peter Holmes, at Ebury, a payments processing firm based in London; from global head of client lifecycle management to senior vice president of client onboarding. Holmes has been with Ebury since 2021.
Departing: Amy Merz Brown, from her role as chief compliance officer at Gurstel Law firm, a regional firm in Minnesota; Brown says the CCO role has been eliminated there. She had been with Gurstel since 2020, and prior to that was chief compliance officer at the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Down in Australia, Bank of Queensland has hired Luke Raven as a senior partner in financial crimes compliance. Raven previously worked at Cabital, a cryptocurrency startup, as senior money laundering reporting officer.
Talk about doing the Lord’s work! Todd Anderson, vice president of compliance advisory at Discover Financial Services, has been named chairman of the board at the Episcopal Church Foundation, an independent nonprofit that supports Episcopal communities with financial management and other business services. Anderson has been on the board of ECF since 2017 and previously was chair of the audit committee.
And Richard Chambers, former long-time CEO of the Institute of Internal Auditors, has been named chair of the audit advisory committee for UNICEF, the humanitarian assistance wing of the United Nations.
Milestones
Staci Baker is celebrating one year at McKesson, where she is director of compliance and ethics training.
Becki Berkeley is celebrating one year at SunRun as senior compliance manager.
Sam Marchand just reached one year at Nissan Motor Corp. as an ethics and compliance program manager, working from Tennessee.
Nariana Souza is celebrating one year at Stericycle, as a senior ethics and compliance manager in the company’s Brazil operations.
Allison Ritter is celebrating five years at NVent, where these days she is associate general counsel for legal and compliance.
And Nicholas Lawrence, last seen in January leaving his job as director of compliance at Ostro, a personalized medicine startup, just re-emerged on LinkedIn to announce that he spent the last six months hiking the Appalachian Trail. We note this in the Jobs Report because (1) hiking the Appalachian Trail is hard work; and (2) it’s good to remember from time to time that life is about living, not just working.
Vendors and Service Providers
Jim Barkley, previously chief compliance officer for Credit Suisse’s global investment bank in the Americas region, has joined Ernst &Young as a partner in its financial services risk management practice.
Affiliated Monitors has hired Duc Nguyen as managing director of the firm’s government debarment practice. Nguyen previously spent eight years as the senior debarment officer at the Environmental Protection Agency.
Open Req Orders
As we mentioned earlier, Fannie Mae is looking for a vice president of ethics and investigations. Job is based in Washington, D.C.
Apollo Global Management, the private equity giant that counts former SEC chairman Jay Clayton as its lead director, is looking for a head of SOX strategy and transformation. Job is based in New York City.
Cable, a software firm that works in testing for financial crime compliance, is looking for a financial crimes solutions manager. Job can be remote, anywhere in the United States or Canada.
