Compliance Jobs Report: Sept. 1

The Compliance Jobs Report this week has personnel gossip from Lundbeck, Microsoft, Urban Pathways, the IATA, and even the world of politics! Plus some party pics, job leads in higher education, microchips, and economic development; and Meme of the Week goes out to slowpoke investment in compliance.

Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.

We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs News

This week we begin at Urban Pathways, a social services organization in New York that helps the homeless there; the nonprofit just hired Lesmore Willis as chief compliance officer. Willis comes to Urban Pathways after four years as chief compliance officer at the Jewish Board of Family and Children Services.

The International Air Transport Association, which acts as a lobbying group for major airlines around the world, has hired Luis González Ospina as audit operations manager. Ospina joins IATA from Avianca, one of the largest airlines in Latin America, where he spent 11 years in various quality assurance and audit roles. Fun fact: Ospina lists “drone pilot” as one of his professional skills.

Mary Gill is the new (and first-ever) chief compliance officer at Pax8, an online marketplace for IT professionals to buy and sell software solutions. Gill joined Pax8 a few weeks ago from Splunk, a cybersecurity software firm, where she had been senior director of ethics and compliance since 2020.

In Denmark, Aleksej Daineko has joined pharmaceutical manufacturing giant Lundbeck as chief ethics and compliance officer. Daineko comes to Lundbeck after not-quite three years as chief compliance officer at Sobi, a Swedish pharmaceutical firm.

Anshuman Pandey has joined Microsoft as a senior compliance manager, working from the company’s offices in India. Pandey comes to Microsoft from Nokia, where he had worked on ethics and compliance issues for the last 18 months.

Zurich Insurance Group has named Hilary Bates chief compliance officer for its U.K. operations. Bates has been with Zurich in various roles in its Australia subsidiary since 2016, most recently as chief operating officer.

Elion, a “vertically integrated investment manager specializing in the industrial logistics real estate sector” (translation: it owns warehouses), has promoted Dalia Pearson from senior managing director of finance to partner and chief compliance officer. Pearson has been with the firm since 2015.

Kelly Long recently joined Jorie Healthcare Partners as director of compliance. Long comes to the company, which provides practice management services to the healthcare industry, from audit and consulting firm Baker Tilly, where she had been director of its healthcare compliance services practice.

Andrew Zoppi has joined CyberSheath as director of compliance operations. Zoppi previously worked at audit and consulting firm BDO, providing advice on compliance with CMMC and other security standards for government contractors.

New to the compliance profession: Shannon Bieber, who just joined L3 Harris Technologies as corporate legal compliance analyst. Bieber previously worked at Amazon.com for a few years in the HR function.

Novotech, an Australian biotech research firm, has hired Arvind Nambiar as senior compliance counsel. Nambiar previously worked at Novartis for four years, most recently as global ethics, risk, and compliance monitoring manager. He’s based in Singapore.

We also have several compliance officer departures to note…

Alexis Wermuth has left Getinge, where she had been global head of healthcare compliance.

Kristen Meeks has left Target, where she had been lead consultant for compliance governance for 11 months.

Tara Breyer has left Allina Health after 22 years there, most recently as compliance manager.

And in a cross-over item from the world of politics, Strive Asset Management, the investment firm co-founded by Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, says that general counsel and chief compliance officer Rachel Paulose has stepped down from those roles. Paulose is now acting as a consultant for the firm while it searches for a new legal chief, and Robert Roach is the new chief compliance officer. Two former Strive employees are suing the firm for allegedly misleading investors about the firm’s financial health, which seems totally on-brand for a millennial presidential candidate with a history of lying
