This week we begin at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where Jason King has accepted a job as associate vice president of risk management and chief legal officer. In that role King will also oversee the university’s institutional compliance program, and will play “an evolving role” in audit and consulting services. King had previously spent 11 years at the University of Texas System, including the last year there as chief ethics and compliance officer.
Chad Kleist has a new role at Berry Global, a plastics manufacturing business based in Indiana. Kleist had been vice president of global ethics, compliance, and workforce development, but this month put on the new title of vice president of HR, global healthcare and employee value proposition. Not sure what that means for the ethics and compliance function at Berry, but we’ll dig into it. Kleist has been with the company for three years.
Jane Kleiner has joined Alk, a pharmaceutical manufacturer headquartered in Denmark, as head of compliance and associate general counsel for the North America market. Kleiner comes to Alk from Catalent Pharma Solutions, where she had been assistant general counsel for compliance and litigation.
AutoProtect Group, a British seller of auto insurance products, has hired Peter Carter as head of compliance. Carter joins AutoProtect Group from a senior public sector compliance role. Before that, he had six years of experience implementing GDPR compliance in auto dealerships across the United Kingdom.
EMD Serono, a pharmaceutical manufacturer and subsidiary of Merck, has promoted Betania Glorio from North America chief compliance officer to chief compliance officer and head of compliance and privacy. Glorio has been with the company since 2021.
Also promoted: Trinity Beck, at Advanced Technology International, from compliance administrator to compliance analyst. Beck has been with ATI, a nonprofit that manages research initiatives, since 2021.
The British Broadcasting Corp. has hired Rebecca Kidd as senior ethics and compliance manager. Kidd comes to the BBC after nearly four years at Serco, a British IT services giant, where she had been head of ethics and compliance.
In Sweden, Åsa Thalén has joined Swedbank as a senior adviser on internal audit. Thalén comes to Swedbank after nine years at Finansinspektionen, which is the awesome name of the Swedish financial supervisory authority. She had been director of operational risks there since 2019.
And Hemma Lomax, associate general counsel at Zendesk, just had her duties expanded to include ethics, cybersecurity compliance, and physical security and safety there. Lomax has been with the HR services provider since February.
Milestones
Michele Abraham, one of the nicest compliance professionals in the state of Ohio, is celebrating one year at Lineage Logistics, where she is vice president for global ethics and compliance.
Yvette Hollingsworth Clark is celebrating one year as chief compliance officer at State Street Corp.
Anna Romberg is celebrating five years at Getinge, where these days she is executive vice president for compliance, legal, and sustainability
Jeffrey Stitt just hit five years at Hillenbrand, where he is chief compliance officer.
And Carrie Penman, one of the nicest compliance officers anywhere at all, just reached 20 years at Navex, where she is chief risk and compliance officer.
Vendors & Service Providers
Remember Joshua Drew, head of ethics and compliance at European telecom giant Veon in the late 2010s? After a few years running his own consulting business, he just turned up at law firm Miller & Chevalier in Washington, D.C.
Bruno Camargo, who had been heading up compliance and legal for Getinge in its Latin America markets until earlier this year, has joined boutique advisory firm Liance Legal as head of its Latin America desk.
Open Req Orders
Harvard University is looking for an institutional risk and compliance officer, which serves as the de facto chief compliance officer for the university. Job is located in Cambridge, Mass. (hometown of Radical Compliance!), with salary range listed at $121,000 to $181,000. If you get the job, let me know and I’ll treat you to coffee in Harvard Square.
Investment giant PIMCO is looking for a deputy chief compliance officer. Job is based in Newport Beach, Calif., with salary range listed at $250,000 to $360,000.
Cushman & Wakefield is recruiting a head of global investigations. Job is based in New York City; salary range listed at $193,000 to $228,000.
