Compliance Jobs News
This week we begin with the University of Oregon, which just announced a reorg of its internal audit function. Leah Ladley, the university’s chief audit executive since 2020, is leaving at the start of November. Since the internal audit office had two vacancies already, administrators have decided to outsource the internal audit function to a third party. That outside vendor will report to university controller Kelly Wolf, while the general counsel’s office will manage the internal reporting hotline. The school did say that in coming months it will “evaluate the scope of the Office of Internal Audit” and launch a search for a new chief auditor.
Ed Papantonio has left insurance giant USAA, where since 2020 he had been a senior compliance executive working on anti-bribery and corruption issues. For now Papantonio is running his own consulting practice, Empire State Ethics & Compliance. Based in New York, naturally.
Kontoor Brands, maker of Lee and Wrangler jeans (among other clothing lines), has hired Margaret Dolan as director of global compliance. Dolan comes to Kontoor after five years at Heico Cos., where most recently she was director of global compliance and ethics.
Alexis Elam has joined California-based Beacon Healthcare Systems as vice president of compliance. Elam previously spent two years with Onehome, a home healthcare business, as senior vice president of compliance and privacy.
Meredith Trąbińska has a new job at AstraZeneca as senior privacy partner, working in Dallas. Trąbińska joins AZ after four years at GSK, where most recently she had been director of third-party risk management.
The ERGO Group, a major insurance group in Germany, has hired Robert Jürgens as chief compliance officer. Jürgens comes to ERGO after 10 years at ThyssenKrupp, where most recently he had been head of compliance awareness and prevention.
Cyndi Padilla has joined IT services firm Cognizant (yes, that one, of the significant FCPA scandal years ago) as compliance project manager. Padilla comes to Cognizant from Ochsner Health, where she had been a compliance specialist.
Advance Bionics, maker of cochlear implants for the hearing-impaired, has hired Brian Kelly as vice president and compliance officer. Kelly joins the Silicon Valley company from MicroVention-Terumo, where he had been deputy chief compliance officer.
Nike has moved Tricia Teves into a new role. Previously she had been director of enterprise risk management and compliance; now she’s director of global risk management. Teves has been with the company for eight years.
Spanish banking giant Santander has promoted Marcelo Santos, from head of monitoring for Europe and Asia to global head of monitoring and testing. Santos, based in Madrid, joined Santander in 2022.
In Mexico, Sebastián Vargas Ruiz has been hired by Philip Morris International as compliance and ethics manager. He previously worked at Unilever’s Mexico operations also as an ethics and compliance lead.
Ronnie Lee has a new role at Zuellig Pharma, moving from compliance monitoring lead to third-party compliance and sanctions lead. Lee has been with Zuellig since 2021 and is based in Singapore.
And an update from the political world: Maria Martinez, chief compliance officer for Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer since 2021, is being promoted to deputy chief of staff in the governor’s office. No word on who might succeed Martinez as CCO.
