Compliance Jobs News

We begin in higher education again this week, with two large university systems making ethics and compliance hires. First is the University of Michigan, which just hired Michelle Casey as the school’s first-ever ethics, integrity and compliance officer. This is a new role created to examine trends, processes, and overall ethics, integrity, and compliance issues, of which Michigan certainly has plenty. Casey comes to the university from the state of Illinois’ Executive Ethics Commission, where she had been the agency’s executive director.

Further south, Florida State University has hired Robert Large as chief ethics and compliance officer. Large comes to FSU after four years at Kansas State University, where most recently he had been senior associate general counsel; but Large previously worked at FSU for a year in the late 2010s as associate general counsel.

compliance jobsJolene Russell has joined Shaw Industries, a textile manufacturer based in Georgia, as deputy general counsel and chief compliance officer. Russell comes to Shaw after 15 years as deputy general counsel at REI, until she left the company earlier this year.

Alishia Farr has joined medical equipment manufacturer Convatec as senior manager for global compliance risk evaluation and compliance officer. Farr, based in Atlanta, joins Convatec after 18 months at PG Forsta, a healthcare technology firm, where she had been global compliance and privacy manager.

American National Bank, a community bank headquartered in Omaha, has hired Michael Gilligan as assistant vice president and fair banking compliance officer. Gilligan previously worked at Wells Fargo and U.S. Bank in similar fair-banking compliance roles.

A new role for Gina Nese at Align Technology! She is now associate general counsel for compliance and privacy. Nese has been with Align for nearly three years, and previously had been global ethics and compliance officer.

JoQuese Satterwhite is stepping down from her job at Medtronic, where she is one of the senior execs in the company’s global office of ethics, compliance, and governance. Satterwhite has been with Medtronic for 16 years, most of them in various compliance and quality assurance roles. No word yet on what Satterwhite might do next but she does say she’ll have more news soon. Radical Compliance will watch for it!

And another departure: John Denning is retiring from Bank of America after 13 years there in various cybersecurity risk management roles. Since 2021 Denning’s formal title was “global risk management executive;” he had operated at the senior VP level for years before that. Denning says he’ll be up to something new in January; we’ll be on the lookout for that update, too.

Avangrid, an energy utility based in Connecticut, has promoted Germán González Avecilla from senior visiting general counsel to chief compliance officer. (Moving into the CCO role is always a promotion regardless of what you previously did, of course.)

Kimberly Morrison has flown the coop at Wing, a food-delivery-by-drone startup, where she had been “people compliance manager.” She landed at Better Being Co., a natural health supplements business, where she is senior director of employee experience.

Direct Line Group, an insurance business in Britain, has hired Anne Godbold as head of regulatory change. Godbold was last seen at Accenture, where she spent 10 years as a conduct and regulatory risk specialist until she left the firm in June.

Bocar Group, an auto manufacturer in Mexico, has hired Rommel Verdugo as director of risk and internal audit. Verdugo comes to Bocar after two years at Kellogg (the food maker), where he had been head of internal audit for Kellogg’s Latin America operations.

Mobile phone maker Ericsson has promoted Caronline Berns to be compliance officer working on leadership and culture issues in the Africa region. Berns spent the last year participating in Ericsson’s “Compliance Booster” program, which takes employees from elsewhere in the company and trains them to be compliance officers; prior to that, she had worked in recruiting for Ericsson.

And Maria Cuneo has joined staffing firm Aston Carter as an ethics and compliance analyst. Cuneo previously worked in Peru as a legal consultant, before relocating to Boston.

Rhea Loney is celebrating one year as chief compliance officer at BetMGM.

Bill Priest is celebrating one year as chief compliance officer at Acadia Healthcare in Tennessee.

Charles Silvey is celebrating five years as global head of internal audit for Alcon, maker of eye care products.
