Compliance Jobs Report: Nov. 17

This week the Compliance Jobs Report has news from Panasonic, Harman International, Wells Fargo, a few fintech companies, and the most important brewery in Keyna. We also have some work anniversaries to celebrate; job leads in genomics, travel services, and pharmaceuticals; and Meme of the Week goes out to chickens about to meet the ax.

Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.

We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at mkelly@radicalcompliance.com or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs News

This week we begin with a follow-up to Panasonic North America. You’ll recall that earlier this month Louis Sapirman retired as chief ethics and compliance officer there. His successor is Monica Lopez Reinmiller, who has been with Panasonic since last year as assistant general counsel; she took over as chief compliance officer upon Sapirman’s exit.

Harman International, maker of audio and video equipment, has hired Anne DeTraglia as director of enterprise risk management. DeTraglia comes to Harman from Whole Foods, where she spent the last 18 months as senior director of enterprise risk and assurance, although many of you might also remember her from her days at Nike earlier in her career.

Hearing some reports that financial giant Prudential has laid off several senior compliance executives (vice president level and above) as part of a larger cost-cutting campaign that’s eliminating 240+ senior jobs. I have no doubt this is true, but no further details. If you know the chisme and can drop me a confidential message, it would be appreciated.

Amy Kozak started this week as University of California Santa Cruz’s new director of audit and management advisory services. Before joining UC Santa Cruz, Kozak was executive director of audit and consulting services at Western Washington University. She has also served as senior internal auditor at Tulane University.

Compliance jobsChris Nowak has signed up with Teampay, a software platform that helps businesses with expense management; he is the company’s Bank Secrecy Act compliance officer. Nowak joins Teampay after two years at RiskScout, a financial services firm, where he had worked in client relations.

Wells Fargo has hired Robert Garrity as lead compliance officer, working from the bank’s headquarters in Charlotte, N.C. Garrity previously worked at UBS, where he was associate director for compliance risk assessments.

SoFi, one of those consumer-facing fintech firms, has hired Allyson Adkins as a senior specialist in AML compliance. Adkins comes to SoFi after four years at Goldman Sachs, where most recently she was an associate in financial crimes compliance.

In Orlando, Fla., Judith Marber-Fox has joined Discovery Senior Living as vice president of compliance. Marber-Fox previously worked at The Assistance Fund for nearly four years, most recently as chief compliance officer and corporate counsel.

Performance Trust Capital Partners, an investment bank catering to depository banks, has promoted Krissy Love to chief compliance officer. Love has been with Performance Trust for eight years, most recently as head of trading operations.

First Citizens Bank, a family-owned consumer bank headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., has hired Matt Schafer as senior project manager for financial crimes and regulatory compliance. Schafer previously pulled stints at banking technology firms including Computershare and NICE Actimize

Promoted: Sarah Sargent, at the University of Texas Permian Basin, from advancement services manager to director of data integrity and compliance. Sargent has been with UTex Permian since earlier this year.

Also promoted: Michael Bishop, at human capital management firm Paycor, from senior risk and compliance analyst to compliance counsel. Bishop has been with Paycor since earlier this year too.

In Kenya, Eva Kagondu has joined Kenya Breweries Ltd. (maker of Tusker Lager, responsible for me waking up one morning years ago in Nairobi without any pants) as regulatory compliance counsel. Kagondu previously worked at East African Breweries for several years as compliance legal counsel.

And Jill Lyons is retiring at the end of this year from Fulgent Genetics, where she is global compliance officer. Lyons originally started as compliance officer at CSI Laboratories, acquired by Fulgent in 2021. Fulgent is looking to find her successor, and the job listing for that role is in the Open Req Orders section below.

Milestones

Deborah Penza is celebrating one year as chief compliance officer at Syneos Health, a biopharma company headquartered in North Carolina.

Maria Camila Ruiz is celebrating one year at Cardinal Health, where she is head of compliance for Colombia.

Felipe Kietzmann has reached five years as regional compliance head for Latin America with German pharmaceutical firm Grünenthal Group

Carl Winekoff is celebrating five years as regional director of compliance for Seattle.-based health network Providence St. Joseph Health.

And Federico Valerio de Ford just hit 10 years at Walmart, where these days he is global anti-corruption officer.

Open Req Orders

Takeda is looking for a head of digital ethics and compliance for its plasma therapies unit. This job has been posted for six months and recently re-advertised, so it seems a niche role that’s tricky to fill. Job can be based in any of several Takeda locations, but obviously the offices in Cambridge, Mass. are best because that’s the hometown of Radical Compliance.

Fulgent Genomics is looking for a global compliance manager (to succeed Jill Lyons as mentioned above). Job is located in El Monte, Calif., just east of Pasadena, with a salary range of $85,000 to $120,000.

Expedia is looking for a senior IT auditor. Job is based in Seattle, with an unreasonably wide salary range of $58,000 (just, no) to $132,000 (more like it).

Compliance Meme of the Week
