Compliance Jobs Report: Dec. 8

The Compliance Jobs Report this week has a few updates from Walmart, plus other personnel gossip at Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, McKesson, and elsewhere. We have some party pics to share; job leads in insurance, clean energy, and rainforests; and Meme of the Week goes out to climate change!

Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.

We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs News

This week we begin with two updates from Walmart. First, the retailer has moved Juliana Pimental into a new role as director of ethics remediation; she had previously been global governance strategy, and Pimental has been in various ethics and compliance roles there for 16 years.

Second, it just came to our attention that Matthew Carter left Walmart earlier this fall, to join Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits as senior vice president of compliance and ethics. At Walmart Carter had been deputy chief ethics and compliance officer for international operations.

compliance jobsKimberlee Levy, who had been general counsel and CCO at Concorde Investment Services for the better part of a decade, says she is “taking off her CCO hat” to dedicate all her time to the general counsel role. This means, of course, that Concorde needs a successor CCO — look for that in the Open Req Orders section below!

In Boston, Charles Corkery has joined newly formed investment advisory firm PUREfi Wealth as chief compliance officer. Corkery previously worked at the Silicon Valley Bank as a vice president until SVB imploded earlier this year.

Deena King has hooked up with the University of Missouri System as interim chief audit and compliance officer. King had been doing solo compliance consulting for the last few months; prior to that she was a compliance and ethics executive at Intermountain Health in Utah.

YES Bank, one of the larger private-sector banks in India, has promoted Rajat Chhalani from head of credit monitoring control and compliance to chief compliance officer. Chhalani has been with YES in various roles for 13 years.

Carol Allis has parted ways with Health Gorilla, a healthcare data analytics firm, where she had been chief compliance officer for the last two years.

Pharmaceutical distributor McKesson has promoted Rodrigo Grion, from vice president of compliance to senior vice president of ethics and compliance. Grion has been with McKesson for not quite three years.

Patricia Potts has joined Wells Fargo as senior lead for business execution of global regulatory affairs. Potts comes to Wells Fargo from U.S. Bank, where she had been senior vice president of global corporate compliance since 2016.

Goldman Sachs has hired Gabriela Viana as a vice president working in the bank’s financial crimes compliance division. Viana had previously spent eight years at Machado Meyer, an awesomely named Brazilian law firm.

Ged Nichols is parting ways with dietary supplements firm Herbalife, where he has been head of internal audit for the EMEA and India regions since 2020. Nichols says he’s looking around for new gigs, unclear what might come next.

Worldline, a global payments business based in France, has promoted Gizem Tansu from global AML compliance and sanctions manager to chief financial crimes compliance officer. Tansu has been with Worldline since the start of this year.

Globe Telecom, a large telecommunications firm in the Philippines, has promoted Carmeli Brionnes from head of financial control to chief audit executive. Brionnes has been with Globe since 2000.

Readers from Gainesville, Fla., might like to know that the city seems close to hire a permanent new chief auditor after more than a year since the previous full-time auditor stepped down. City officials recently interviewed three finalists, and a decision is expected any day now.

And Russell Hunter, head of compliance for Clear Channel International, has joined the board of Outvertising, a U.K. group that seeks to make advertising and marketing messages more LGBT-friendly. More compliance officers on boards!

Milestones

Apoorv Agarwal is celebrating one year at Ford Motor Co. as senior special investigator for ethics and integrity.

Shoshanna Clark is celebrating one year as chief compliance officer at Cerevel Therapeutics, a Boston-based biotech company.

Abimola Jegede just hit one year at Etsy as compliance director.

Rushad Karanjawala is celebrating one year at Arvinas as director of ethics and compliance.

Jarred Hill is celebrating five years at Simmons Bank in Little Rock, Ark., where he is manager of internal controls.

And remember Gene Levoff, former corporate secretary at Apple, in charge of developing the company’s insider trading policies — and then charged with insider trading in 2019, and pleaded guilty last year? Sentenced this week to four years probation, but no prison time. The Justice Department had asked for up to two years, and a separate SEC complaint against Levoff is still pending.

Party Pics

Holiday parties now in full swing! Here’s a nice shot of SOCCER (the Southern California Compliance and Ethics Roundtable), which held its holiday party earlier this week. See how many faces you recognize.

If you have any photos from your conferences, parties, and other events, send ’em in!

Vendors and Service Providers

News for all you compliance and audit folks in the government sector: OnSpring GovCloud, a GRC offering for government agencies, has released a new OMB A-123 product. (Circular A-123 is the federal government’s equivalent of SOX Section 404, for all you private-sector people.)

Open Req Orders

The Rainforest Alliance is looking for a director of global internal compliance. Job can be based in Amsterdam, London, or New York; salary range is $102,000 to $141,000.

As mentioned earlier, Concorde Investment Services is looking for a chief compliance officer. Job is based in Livonia, Mich., with a salary range of $100,000 to $150,000.

Scout Clean Energy seeks a senior manager of SOX compliance. Job is based in Boulder, Colo.; salary range is $140,000 to $160,000 with “an attractive bonus potential.”

And life insurance business Ethos is looking for a chief compliance officer. Job apparently can be remote; Ethos itself is headquartered in Austin, Texas. Salary range is $195,000 to $275,000, which strikes me as quite broad but it’s a miracle that a company in Texas lists its salary at all.
