Compliance Jobs Report: Jan. 26
The Compliance Jobs Report this week has promotions and new hires to report from Walgreens Boots Alliance, Victoria’s Secret, BNP Paribas, Northrop Grumman, NXP Semiconductors, and lots more. We also have job leads in public education, finance, and crafts; and Meme of the Week goes out to management review controls.
Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.
We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.
Compliance Jobs Report
This week we start with two updates from Walgreens Boots Alliance. First, the retail and pharmacy chain has promoted Paul Jaquez, from interim ethics and compliance officer for Latin America to deputy compliance and ethics officer for international operations. Meanwhile, the company has also named chief compliance officer Matthew D’Ambrosio interim chief legal officer. D’Ambrosio has been running the ethics and compliance function at Walgreens since 2017.
Gretchen Philipp has joined Victoria’s Secret as senior investigator for ethics and compliance. Philipp comes to the fashion retailer after four years at the University of Texas-Austin, where most recently she had been a senior HR generalist. She is the latest in a string of hires as VS builds out its ethics and compliance team under Forrest Deegan.
Daniel Maury has a new role at BNP Paribas. For the last three years Maury had been chief data officer for global markets and global records management head; starting this month he is now compliance specialist for voice and electronic recordkeeping. One wonders whether this new role is about U.S. authorities punishing financial firms for their poor storage of employee communications.
Remember our item last week about Robert Nolan, who had stepped down as chief compliance officer at HealthAxis Group and promised more news shortly? Well, we have it. Nolan has joined AdventHealth in Florida, where he is corporate responsibility officer for West Florida.
Shaun Neylon has joined NXP Semiconductors as global head of export compliance and sanctions (a job that’s sure to be challenging these days). Neylon comes to NXP after four years at Macom, maker of semiconductor components, where he had been director of global trade compliance and security.
Northrop Grumman has hired Jeremy Gamache as a senior principal for supply chain compliance issues. Gamache joins the defense contractor from AM General, maker of military vehicles, where he had been director of supply chain compliance for two years.
Promoted: Ryan Roberts, at Las Vegas Sands Corp., from compliance manager to senior compliance manager. Roberts has been working at Sands for four years.
Also promoted: Mirela Kropp, at insurance company Sun Life, from senior internal auditor to internal audit manager. Kropp has been with the company since 2021.
Bill Mullee has joined Booz Allen Hamilton as associate general counsel for contracts compliance. Mullee joins the IT consulting firm after three years at Zoom, where most recently he had been associate general counsel for government compliance.
Enterprise Bank, a community bank based in Lowell, Mass., has hired Andrea Simmons as senior compliance specialist. Simmons comes to Enterprise after 17 years down the road at Stoneham Bank, most recently as vice president and compliance officer.
Wells Fargo has hired Suresh Mittameedi as senior compliance specialist, working in the bank’s back-office operations in India. Mittameedi previously worked at JPMorgan Chase as a compliance analyst.
Saxo Bank, a large investment bank in Denmark, has promoted John Carmichael from chief audit executive to chief risk and compliance officer. Carmichael has been with Saxo since 2007.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts has promoted Dawn Perry from deputy general counsel to chief risk and audit officer. Perry has been with BCBS Massachusetts since 2020.
And Joseph Vella has joined the MBTA, the public transit system for metro Boston, as director of reporting and compliance. Vella previously worked as finance manager for Vicinity Energy, a clean energy utility in Boston. We do wonder how Vella will get to work, because if he takes the T he’ll never arrive on time.
Milestones
Valerie Campbell is celebrating one year at St. Joseph’s Health in Patterson, N.J., as chief compliance officer.
Jordan Segall has reached one year as legal counsel for ethics and compliance for Xylem, a maker of water technology systems.
Deborah Thomas is celebrating five years at McKesson, where she is director of compliance and ethics.
George Aubrey just hit 10 years as chief audit executive at Lenovo.
And Teresa Diaz is celebrating 10 years as compliance and integrity officer for Porsche Ibérica in Spain.
Vendors & Service Providers
Remember Kenneth Polite, formerly assistant attorney general at the Justice Department and these days partner at law firm Sidley Austin? He’s just been hired by the Tavistock Group to conduct a soup-to-nuts review of the company’s compliance program. Tavistock is a holding company with various real estate, retail, and hospitality interests, and its founder and former CEO just pleaded guilty to insider trading charges last month.
