Compliance Jobs Report: March 15
This week the Compliance Jobs Report has new hires at Lowe’s, Renishaw, Cox Enterprises, and more; plus a notable retirement from NRG Energy and a slew of promotions to report. We have job leads engineering, banking, and microchips, and Meme of the Week goes out to compliance officers handling ESG.
Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.
We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at mkelly@radicalcompliance.com or find me on LinkedIn.
Compliance Jobs Report
This week we begin with home improvement giant Lowe’s Companies, which just hired Luis Avila as chief compliance officer and senior vice president for corporate governance. Avila comes to Lowe’s after five years at Cox Enterprises, most recently as vice president for governance and compliance.
Speaking of Cox Enterprises — Michelle Davis is returning to Cox to run its regulatory compliance and enterprise risk teams. Davis had previously worked at Cox as director of ethics and compliance until the end of 2022, then opened her own Artemis Advisory consulting firm for a while. Davis is now putting Artemis “on the shelf” as she goes back to Cox. She remains one of the nicest compliance professionals in Atlanta.
Michael Bramnick is retiring from NRG Energy, where he has been chief compliance officer since 2014 (and spent most of the last 20 years at NRG in other roles before that). Bramnick says he will leave NRG in June, and has no particular plans about what he might do next.
Wells Fargo has given a new role to Stephanie Farmer, moving her from senior lead compliance officer to senior lead compliance officer for communications. Farmer has been with Wells since 2022.
Margarita Malhorta has a new job; she is head of compliance for the Americas region at Renishaw, a British maker of precise measurement equipment. Malhorta comes to Renishaw after two years at Reckitt, where she had been ethics and compliance director for North America.
Remember Roxanne Turner, last seen as chief compliance and privacy officer at Omnicell until she left that job in mid-2023? After a few months of brushing up on AI governance, she just turned up at Sandata Technologies as general counsel.
Biopharma startup Corium has promoted Timothy Moore from associate general counsel to vice president of compliance and legal. Moore has been with the company since 2021, helping the company with its compliance and governance structures as it started to roll out commercial products.
Vericel Corp., a Boston-based biotech, has promoted Masha Goodman-Khan from director of compliance and legal operations to senior director. She has been with the company since 2022.
Xavier Leydier has been promoted at Credit Suisse’s Luxembourg offices, from head of financial crimes compliance to chief compliance officer. Leydier has been with Credit Suisse since 2021. (Yes, Credit Suisse is now part of UBS, but apparently Luxembourg is keeping the Credit Suisse structure alive for now.)
Hotel giant Hilton has promoted Spencer Smith, from senior HR manager to director of HR risk and compliance. Smith has been with Hilton for five years.
One more promotion: Margarita Derelanko, at Ivy Rehab Physical Therapy, from director of compliance to senior director of compliance. Derelanko has been with Ivy Rehab since 2020.
And we conclude with an item from the regulatory world: Judy Krieg is leaving the U.K. Serious Fraud Office, where she had been head of the Fraud, Bribery, and Corruption Division for three years. Krieg now lists her occupation as “temporary woman of leisure,” which we applaud.
Milestones
Kristin Bone is celebrating one year at Toyota Motor Corp. as head of global anti-bribery compliance.
Lee Hatton just hit one year at John Lewis Partnership, a U.K. retail concern, as senior compliance officer.
Jessica Evenson is celebrating five years as vice president for ethics and compliance at St. Louis University.
Vendors and Service Providers
James Downing, previously global chief compliance officer at Morningstar until he left last November, has joined ACA Group as a principal consultant.
Alissa Vertes, last seen as chief compliance officer at HealthPRO Heritage, where she had been chief compliance officer until last fall, just turned up at Puzzl (yes, they leave off the “e” from the end), a compliance technology consulting firm. She works there advising clients.
Open Req Orders
Engineering and construction firm Burns & McDonnell is looking for a business ethics and compliance manager. Job is based in Kansas City, Mo. Salary range not provided, phooey on them.
Sumitomo Mitsui Bancorp is recruiting a vice president for ethics investigations. Job is based in New York, salary range of $144,000 to $178,000.
And to prove that miracles do happen, this week we have a job in Texas that includes a salary range. AMD is looking for a senior director of compliance investigations. Job is based in Austin, Texas; salary range of $226,000 to $340,00.
