Compliance Jobs Report: March 22

Another big Compliance Jobs Report this week. We have CCO hires at Norfolk Southern, Kindbody, and Treehouse Foods; and lots of other personnel moves too. A new whistleblower law firm just opened; we have job leads in renewable energy, technology, and chickens; and Meme of the Week goes out to overstretched budgets.

Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.

We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs Report

This week we begin with railroad giant Norfolk Southern, which has hired Angie Kolar as chief compliance officer. Apparently this is a new role at Norfolk Southern (“a new strategic role,” the company says). Kolar comes to Norfolk Southern after 20 years in various roles at Colonial Pipelines, most recently as senior vice president of operations, EHS, and compliance.

Kindbody, a network of fertility clinics, has hired Timothy Springer as chief compliance officer. Springer comes to the clinic chain from One Medical, a healthcare system based in San Francisco, where he had been chief compliance officer for two years.

Treehouse Foods, a private-label manufacturer of snack foods, has hired Dan Feldman as chief compliance officer and chief litigation counsel. Feldman joins Treehouse after five years at Sabre Corp., where most recently he had been senior vice president for “people operations” and employee relations.

Fernanda Veroneze has joined Uber in its Brazil offices as senior specialist in ethics and compliance. Veroneze comes to Uber after not-quite three years as an associate at Tozzini Freire, a Brazilian law firm.

Next, we have two items from Walmart. First, the retail giant has promoted Krisiti Brown from senior director and “reporting pillar lead” (love that title) to group director for technical accounting and policy; Brown has been working her way up the accounting food chain at Walmart for eight years. Second, the company has also hired Hallie Bussman as senior manager in real estate transaction compliance (the source of Walmart’s FCPA troubles back in the 2010s). Bussman previously worked at Ox, a software startup working in industrial automation, as a sales executive.

Joshua Tashiro-Townley has moved into a new role as compliance manager at Boeing. Tashiro-Townley had previously worked as an assembly installer at the company since last year; one hopes that his experience as a mechanic will help with Boeing’s extensive compliance and product quality difficulties today.

DWS Group, an asset management firm based in Germany with $970 billion in assets under management, has hired Amit Jain as head of internal audit for its U.K. operations. Jain comes to DWS after 11 years at Deutsche Bank, most recently as director of special investigations.

Olivia Stoico has joined the compliance function at UMass Memorial Health, the hospital system operated by the University of Massachusetts; she’s a compliance specialist there. Stoico previously worked for UMass Memorial as a claims denial specialist.

Medical supplies giant McKesson has hired Kieshia Devezin as a senior director of ethics and compliance. Devezin comes to McKesson from Civica Rx, a pharmaceutical manufacturer, where she had been director of compliance.

Circle, one of those cryptocurrency startups I don’t quite get, has promoted Joanna Marathakis from senior director of compliance operations to vice president of financial crime compliance. Marathakis has been with the Boston-based company since 2020.

Origis Energy has hired Sarah Blankenship as NERC compliance manager. Blankenship previously worked at the Salt River Project, a public utility in Arizona, as manager of reliability compliance.

Hristina Chobanova has been promoted at Joe & the Juice, an awesomely named coffee and food business in Denmark, from ESG compliance associate to senior ESG compliance associate. One assumes she gets great coffee every day as part of the package.

Campbell’s Soup has promoted Katie Wyatt, from data analyst in the corporate audit function to senior data analyst. Wyatt has been with Cambell’s since 2022.

Visa has hired Prashu Goyal as an audit manager in its India operations center. Goyal comes to Visa from Wells Fargo, where he held a similar role as lead audit manager.

CRH, an Irish wholesaler of building materials, has promoted Daniela Lupu from group internal auditor to assistant internal audit manager. Lupu has been with CRH for 18 months.

Cox Enterprises has promoted Nick Aleksandrowicz from cyber risk and compliance manager to senior manager.

Ruchika Dhamija has moved into a new role at GE Veranova, previously known as GE’s renewable energy division. Dhamija had been a compliance officer for the division’s Asia-Pacific and South Asia operations; now she is in South Carolina as lead compliance officer for Veranova’s wind turbine operations.

Seis, a payments startup catering to Spanish-speaking customers (“Ending ‘dial #2 for Español’”) has hired Dustin Eaton as head of risk and compliance. Eaton comes to Seis from Wells Fargo, where he had been an executive director in the bank’s anti-fraud program.

Sibusiso Bila has joined the Alteia Fund, an investment firm with holdings across Africa and the Middle East, as regional compliance officer in South Africa. Bila previously worked for Deloitte as a financial crimes analyst in its risk advisory practice there.

Rakbank, a financial firm in Dubai, has promoted Ebrahim Al-Marzuqi from deputy anti-money laundering officer to head of financial crimes compliance. Al-Marzuqi has been with the bank almost two years.

And One Zero, a digital bank in Israel, has expanded the role of chief compliance officer Alon Feder to be chief risk management and compliance officer.

Milestones

Kimberlee Parker is celebrating one year at Clark Atlanta University where she is chief compliance officer.

Tobias Thibaut is celebrating one year as internal audit director at WebBeds

Neal Treanor just hit one year as deputy chief compliance officer at 1251 Capital, a financial services firm in Boston.

Carlos García Jiménez is celebrating five years at Uber, where he is director of ethics and compliance for Latin America; so is Dianna Jones, director of legal and trade compliance for the company.

Vendors and Service Providers

Whistleblower Partners, a boutique law firm representing — you guessed it — corporate whistleblowers, launched this week. The firm’s nine partners were previously part of the Constantine Cannon law firm, and the clients they’re taking with them include Frances Haugen (Facebook whistleblower), Tyler Schultz (Theranos whistleblower) and Ed Pierson (Boeing whistleblower).

Speaking of whistleblowers, Pav Gill, who blew the whistle on the Wirecard fraud, has launched a new whistleblowing app called Confide

Open Req Orders

RWE, a renewable energy giant based in Germany, is looking for a senior manager of compliance for its U.S. operations. Job can be based in San Diego, Chicago, and a few other locations. Salary range is $135,000 to $202,000 depending on location.

Tyson Foods is looking for a senior manager of global ethics and compliance training and awareness. Looks like this job has been open for a few weeks and the company just re-advertised it. Location is Springdale, Ark. No salary range disclosed — maybe they’re too chicken to post it?

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a director for the global ethics team. Job is based Santa Clara, Calif., with a salary range of $200,600 to $324,500.
