Compliance Jobs Report: June 21

The Compliance Jobs Report this week has new hires at Nasdaq, US HealthVest, University of Rochester, and elsewhere; plus a slew of compliance and audit promotions at businesses including Pfizer, Citigroup, Regions Bank, and Acushnet. We have job leads in semiconductors, manufacturing, and healthcare; and don’t forget Meme of the Week!

Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.

We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at mkelly@radicalcompliance.com or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs Report

We begin this week with Peter Zanolin, head of compliance at circuit-maker Jabil; he was just promoted from senior associate general counsel to deputy general counsel. Zanolin has been with Jabil since 2017.

Remember Nancy Luquette, last seen one year ago as chief risk and compliance officer for S&P Global? She just turned up at Nasdaq as the exchange’s new chief audit executive. Glad to see she’s back in the game.

Walter Appleby has parted ways with Georgia-Pacific, where he had been vice president of compliance and ethics operations since the end of 2021. No word yet on what he might do next.

Jordan Thurston has a new role within the Citigroup empire as senior vice president and senior audit manager for retail bank and mortgage technology. Thurston has been with Citi since 2021, and previously was head of regulatory portfolio management and performance analytics.

Pfizer has promoted Lindsay Havern. Havern had been vice president of compliance governance and corporate affairs; now she is senior vice president for regulatory quality assurance, compliance, and risk.

MGF Sourcing, an Ohio company that works on sourcing materials for the fashion industry, has promoted Tuhin Mir from senior compliance specialist to compliance manager.

Don Schmadel has retired, after many years in the healthcare compliance and anti-fraud business. Most recently Schmadel was vice president for compliance at Absolute Total Care, a health insurance provider in South Carolina; prior to that he was market compliance officer for WellCare Health Plans. We wish him well.

Bell Bank, a community bank in Fargo, N.D., has hired Mackenzie Rooney as chief audit executive. Rooney previously spent 11 years at the accounting firm Clifton Larson Allen, where most recently she was a manager in the Minneapolis office.

Discover Financial Services has hired Michelle Merz as internal audit manager. Merz comes to Discover from BankUnited, where she also had been an audit manager for three years.

Mallory Malloy has joined Illtich Sports and Entertainment, a facilities and operations subsidiary of the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers, working on HR compliance and investigations. Malloy comes to Illitch after five years at Beztak, a real estate management firm in Michigan, where most recently she was director of training and associate development. So long as she’s not a Pistons fan she’s good in my book.

Smarsh, provider of records management and compliance software, has hired Katie Alexander as assistant general counsel for the firm’s own risk management and compliance operations. Alexander joins Smarsh from Asics Digital, where she had been director of compliance and corporate counsel.

French logistics giant Geodis has promoted Everett Sweet from operations manager for training, compliance, safety, and maintenance to senior manager for quality and regulatory compliance. Sweet has been working in Geodis’ U.S. operations since 2017.

US HealthVest, a behavioral care company headquartered in New York, has hired Mandy Lovelace-Gallo as vice president of compliance. Lovelace-Gallo previously worked in senior compliance roles at Cerebral and Skylight Health Group, although she spent the last year working in special education at the Collierville school system in Tennessee.

iRhythm Technologies has hired Megan Tracy as senior IT compliance analyst. Tracy comes to iRhythm, whose products track and analyze cardiac behavior, from KPMG, where most recently she was a senior associate in the firm’s cybersecurity practice.

The University of Rochester just hired Tom Harter as compliance and risk manager. Harter joins the university (go Yellowjackets!) after 22 years at Excellus BCBS, where most recently he was manager for accreditation, quality, and regulatory programs.

Regions Bank has promoted Thomas Rice from corporate compliance analyst to compliance testing manager. Rice has been with Regions in various roles for 16 years.

First Federal Lakewood, a community bank in Lakewood, Ohio, has promoted Bilal Shah from senior compliance manager to chief compliance officer.

Acushnet Corp., maker of Titleist golf balls and Footjoy golf shoes, has promoted Flora Yang from export compliance specialist to senior associate for compliance and logistics.

And while we don’t often note job moves in the regulators’ world, we did notice that Alex Moltzau has joined the newly formed European Commission AI Office as a policy officer, where he’ll help to develop policy for the recently enacted EU AI Act. Moltzau previously worked at the Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium

Milestones

Jacqueline Peterson is celebrating one year at Ericsson, where she is head of compliance for its “BEWS” division, which is business enterprise wireless solutions.

Ashish Vohra has reached one year at Qatar Energy as head of ethics and investigations.

Severin Wirz is celebrating one year at Applied Materials as director of ethics and compliance.

Marian Graves is celebrating three years at Covertus, where these days she is senior regulatory and compliance counsel.

John Brennan recently hit five years at Cognizant Technologies, where he is chief audit executive.

Thanh Hoang is celebrating 10 years at Sanofi, where these days he is internal control process lead in the Asia-Pacific region.

Open Req Orders

Coherent Corp., which works in semiconductor and photonics manufacturing, is looking for a senior counsel for global compliance. Job is based just outside Pittsburgh. No salary range provided, but the company does stress its corporate values as “integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect, and enthusiasm” — the first letters spelling out “I CARE.”

Athletico Physical Therapy, which operates more than 900 therapy sites across the United States, is looking for a vice president of corporate compliance. Job is based just outside Chicago; no salary range provided.

Pratt & Whitney is looking for an ethics and compliance officer for its location in Asheville, N.C. Salary range is listed as $96,000 to $200,000, which of course is ridiculous. Looks like the job was originally posted at the end of April and re-posted this week.
