Compliance Jobs Report: July 5

What better way to celebrate a long July 4th holiday weekend than by reading the Compliance Jobs Report? This week we have a new chief compliance officer at Citadel; an expanding compliance function at Amtrak; new hires at Staples, Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Marvell Technology; and much more. Job leads are in health insurance, medical tech, and higher education.

Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.

We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at [email protected] or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs Report

This week we begin with Deutsche Bank, which has expanded the role of chief compliance officer Laura Padovani to include anti-financial crime, and also tapped Padovani to join DB’s management board. Padovani first arrived at Deutsche Bank in April 2023 as chief compliance officer, after stints at Barclays and American Express

And more from financial services! Hedge fund giant Citadel has hired Nathan Perrone as chief compliance officer. Perrone comes to Citadel after five years at Millennium, another financial services giant, where he worked on equities advisory compliance.

Last week we noted that Maria Buccieri just hit one year at Amtrak as senior director of compliance; and she graciously alerted us that she has been building out the Amtrak ethics and compliance team since then. That includes Joanne Norman, hired earlier this year as senior manager of compliance and Kristina Link as manager of compliance. Norman was previously chief compliance officer for the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles; Link was a senior compliance manager for Airbus’ U.S. operations.

The school district of Stamford, Conn., has re-assigned Christopher Soules, moving him from head of human resources to chief compliance officer

In Georgia, Augusta University has promoted Angelica Walden from principal investigator and policy manager to assistant vice president for audit, compliance, ethics and risk management. Walden has been with the university for nearly six years. She succeeds Brittney Alls, who was promoted to chief compliance officer at Augusta earlier this year (after a stint as interim CCO).

Jeffrey Mason has joined Staples as senior director of regulatory compliance, quality, and product safety. Mason comes to the office supplies giant from Ultra Maritime, where he had been senior director of quality for the last year.

Simplicity Group, a provider of products and support services to broker-dealers and other financial advisers, has hired Scott Raider as chief compliance officer. Raider comes to the firm after nearly four years at LifePro Asset Management, the last three of them as chief compliance officer.

Stevie Hosler has joined financial services firm FNB Corp. as lead compliance specialist. Hosler previously spent seven years at PNC Bank, most recently as a compliance program adviser working on privacy issues.

British IT services firm Computacenter has hired Carsten Sellmer as head of EU and India compliance. Sellmer, who is based in Germany, comes to the firm after three years as chief compliance officer at Medac, a pharmaceutical manufacturer there.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals has hired Samantha Philis as director of compliance and ethics for business partners. Philis previously spent three years at audit and advisory firm Baker Tilly, where she had been a senior manager in the firm’s healthcare practice.

Satyam Mall has joined Marvell Technology as an ethics and compliance professional, working in Marvell’s offices in India. Mall comes to the semiconductor manufacturer after a year at Cytiva, where he had been a “global classification specialist.” Sounds like good experience for an ethics and compliance role.

FairMoney, a French mobile payments firm that targets the emerging markets, has hired Afeez Ogunleye as head of internal audit. Ogunleye, who is based in Nigeria, comes to FairMoney after a year running internal audit for UNITeS Cisco, an IT training academy in that country.

BoulderTech, a startup working on something involving the blockchain, has hired Walter Vallini as chief compliance officer. Vallini previously worked at Cresud, an agriculture business in Argentina, as chief compliance officer.

Food and beverage manufacturer Kellanova has moved Adriana Lopez into a new role, shifting her from IT auditor to ethics and compliance specialist.

Trenton Wright has a new job at Nissan Motor Corp. as director of regulatory compliance. Wright has actually been with Nissan since 2021, and previously had been working in the company’s “connected car” division.

Toy maker Mattel has promoted Randy Baker from director of internal audit to vice president.

Sutter Health has promoted Geraldina Marticorena from security officer to regional compliance and training officer.

Oluranti Mafolasire, at retailer Fossil Group, has moved up from senior manager of corporate compliance to director of corporate compliance. Mafolasire has been with Fossil in various roles since 2017.

Diana Skundrich, at Pfizer, has been promoted from document specialist to senior compliance specialist. (A year working on documentation issues also sounds like great experience to move into compliance.)

Walmart has promoted Robin Smith from director of ethics and compliance to senior director. Smith has been with Walmart in various roles for 15 years.

Dr. Reddy’s Labs, a large generic pharmaceuticals manufacturer in India, has promoted Shruti Deshpande from compliance manager to senior compliance manager.

And the Cooperative Bank, a bank in Manchester, U.K. that proudly bills itself as “celebrating more than 150 years in ethical banking,” has promoted Chris Smart from director of compliance to chief risk officer. Smart has been with Cooperative for only nine years.

Luis Felipe Iturbide is celebrating one year at PayPal, where he is the anti-money laundering officer for Mexico.

Karen Patruno is celebrating five years as as chief compliance officer at Intra-Cellular Therapies, a New York City biotech firm trying to cure nervous system disorders,

Alonso Ruiz Barba is celebrating 10 years at GEPP, a beverage company in Mexico, in various risk and compliance roles. He has been chief audit executive since July 2018.
