Compliance Jobs Report: July 26

We have an abbreviated Compliance Jobs Report this week since I’m on vacation, but still lots of news from Barclays, Comcast, Marqeta, USAA, Hertz, and more. Our job leads are in healthcare, higher ed, and special investigations; and Meme of the Week goes out to sustainability officers!

Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.

We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at mkelly@radicalcompliance.com or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs Report

This week we begin in the banking world: Barclays has scooped up Alex Flaster as vice president and chief compliance officer for the Americas region. Flaster previously worked at BNY Mellon for three years, most recently as senior vice president for governance, policy, and reporting.

Thai Trower has joined Marqeta, a platform for issuing credit cards, as head of financial crime compliance risk. Trower joins Marqeta after a year working as an anti-corruption consultant for various clients, and prior to that was at Google working on payments compliance issues.

Wayne Scott has been named county auditor for Arlington County in Virginia, essentially serving as the county’s chief audit executive. Scott previously worked for JetBlue for a year running operational audits, and earlier in his career spent many years as top auditor for Universal Service Administrative Co.

complianceHere’s a rather unusual corporate reshuffling: insurance giant USAA has announced that chief financial officer Jeff Wallace will be the firm’s new chief audit executive. Wallace succeeds Gilbert Gitiche, who stepped down as chief audit executive earlier this year.

Down in Australia, Agile Underwriting has named Matthew Rowan group risk and compliance officer. Rowan comes to Agile after a year at insurance giant Aon, where he had been chief compliance officer for Australia.

The University of Southern California has named chief compliance officer Stacy Giwa interim head of human resources too, while USC looks for a permanent HR boss. Giwa has been running the school’s ethics and compliance program since 2018.

Samantha Molleda has a new job as director of compliance at Brightside Health, an online provider of mental health services. Molleda previously worked at Optum Behavioral Healthcare as senior director of compliance.

Brex, maker of AI-driven financial management software, has hired Sibongile Ngako as chief compliance officer. Ngako comes to the San Francisco startup from Affirm, another financial software business, where she had been vice president of compliance. She succeeds Nick Passarelli, who had been CCO at Brex until earlier this month.

Page Motes has expanded her role at rental car giant Hertz, from vice president of sustainability and impact to chief compliance and sustainability officer. Motes has been with Hertz since 2023, and prior to that juggled similar compliance and sustainability roles at Dell

First Citizens Investor Services has hired Kurt Sims as vice president and compliance manager. Sims comes to the business, which is affiliated with First Citizens Bank and manages about $11 billion in assets, after 10 years at Arvest Wealth Management, most recently as compliance specialist.

Jiyeoun Schumacher has a new role at US Pharmacopeia, moving from compliance operations program manager to manager of DEA compliance. She has been with USP for 10 years.

Tier Mobility, a German company that works on ride-sharing services for scooters, bicycles, and other light electric vehicles, has promoted Patricio Roffo from head of risk and compliance to director of global risk and compliance. Roffo has been with Tier since 2022.

AbbVie has promoted Christina Brooks from associate director of global medical compliance excellence to director of global medical compliance. Not sure why “excellence” was dropped from the title but we’re sure she still does a great job.

Anna-Lisa Corrales has been promoted from chief compliance officer to general counsel at Vroom, which had been an online marketplace for used cars until it got out of that business in January, and these days runs a few auto loan businesses. Corrales succeeds Patricia Moran, who has downshifted into being a consultant for Vroom.

The Finova Group, a corporate services business in Singapore, has hired Weijian Leong as compliance officer. Leong joins the firm from UBS, where he had been a KYC compliance analyst for three years.

And Comcast has promoted Elizabeth MacDonald from senior manager of corporate compliance to director of corporate compliance. She has been with Comcast for three years.
