Compliance Jobs Report: Oct. 11

This week the Compliance Jobs Report has news from Albemarle, Pall Corp., Princeton University, Mazda, McKesson, Toast, and many more. We also have a bundle of promotions to note; two high-level departures from the SEC; and several European job leads in economic development and auto manufacture. Meme of the Week is for the birds!

Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.

We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at mkelly@radicalcompliance.com or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs

Today we begin with Albemarle Corp., which just confirmed that its deputy general counsel Stacy Grant will (a) be promoted to general counsel; and (b) will also hold the title of chief compliance officer. Grant succeeds Kristen Coleman, who joined Albemarle as GC in 2022 and who is leaving the company now. Coleman assumed the CCO title in March when Andrew McBride stepped down as CCO, after the company resolved one of the larger FCPA enforcement actions we’ve seen in recent years. (Day-to-day oversight of Albemarle’s compliance program is still managed by Roberta Paoloni, who is vice president of compliance.)

We have a changing of the guard at Princeton University, where chief audit and compliance officer Nilufer Shroff is stepping down at the end of this year. Shroff was the school’s first-ever compliance boss, taking on that role in 2007. Princeton has hired recruitment firm Opus Partners to help find a successor.

Compliance JobsPall Corp. has hired Lamar Davis as global compliance director. Davis previously worked at Essity, maker of personal hygiene products, where he was compliance officer for North America.

Felipe Kietzmann has joined Gilead Sciences as director of global healthcare compliance policies. Kietzmann comes to the pharma giant after six years at Grünenthal Group, most recently as compliance officer for global projects.

Toya Campbell has joined Geisinger, a healthcare system based in Pennsylvania, as assistant vice president of compliance. Campbell previously worked at Johns Hopkins Medicine for three years as senior director of compliance.

STACK Infrastructure, provider of data centers and other IT infrastructure to corporate customers, has hired Terry DeBell as vice president of compliance, handling projects such as SOC 1, SOC 2, and ISO compliance. DeBell comes to the company from TTEC, where he had been chief audit executive for nearly 10 years.

Winning this week’s prize for coolest job title, Obiageli Daniel has joined Deutsche Bank as assistant vice president for surveillance transformation. Daniel comes to Deutsche Bank from KPMG, where she had been a senior consultant working on financial services transformation.

Toast, the online payments app for restaurants that I’m too old to use (why not just call the restaurant, people?), has hired Sam Pfanstiel as principal PCI compliance analyst. Pfanstiel had previously been a compliance consultant with security software firm Coalfire.

Mazda Motor Europe, the European division of Mazda (you may have already guessed that), has hired Ilan Nachemia as chief compliance officer. Nachemia previously worked at ZF Group, a German vehicle manufacturer, where he had been chief data privacy officer.

Another in Germany: Boehringer Ingelheim has hired Peter Repprecht as compliance officer for human pharmaceuticals. Repprecht joins Boehringer after 10 years at Merck Gruppe, where he most recently had been head of healthcare legal.

McKesson has hired Sumin Moon as a senior SOC compliance analyst. Moon comes to the pharmaceutical wholesaler after three years at KPMG, where he had been an associate in the advisory practice.

Caesar’s Entertainment has hired Anuj Nayyar as product compliance director. Nayyar comes to the gambling giant after 11 years at BMM Testlabs, which tested and certified casino games; he had most recently been director of service delivery.

Prabhu Rajendran has joined BNY in the bank’s Singapore offices as vice president for compliance and control. Rajendran previously worked at Paxos, a blockchain infrastructure startup, as crypto compliance officer.

Promotions

ESAB, a manufacturer of welding equipment, has promoted Oyu Enkhbat from global trade compliance specialist to global trade compliance systems manager.

The Bancorp has promoted Shelbie Kinsey from monitoring and oversight team lead to assistant vice president for enterprise compliance risk assessment.

MVB Bank, a mid-sized bank based in West Virginia, has promoted Celeste Gumbus from fraud operations analyst to core compliance manager.

Scout Motors has promoted Emily Frank from ethics and compliance manager to senior manager for ethics, compliance, and risk.

Swiss financial services firm Vontobel has promoted Natalia Villard from director of business compliance for central and eastern Europe to head of business compliance for the same region.

And in Detroit, General Motors has promoted Matthieu Cadart-Nelissen from senior social responsibility analyst to compliance and due diligence program lead.

Milestones

Jill Atstupenas is celebrating one year at Syndax Pharmaceuticals as director of compliance.

Boyd Ellis is celebrating one year at Western Digital as senior director and assistant general counsel for global ethics and compliance.

Raphael Loschiavo Cerdeira is celebrating five years at Philips, where these days he is senior manager of fraud investigations for the Americas region.

Seth Cohen just hit five years at Alvarez and Marsal, where he is director of global compliance.

Rore Middleton has reached five years at Blueprint Medicines, where she is vice president of compliance and ethics.

Vendors & Service Providers

We’d be remiss if we didn’t note that Gurbir Grewal, director of enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission, is leaving the job this week. He will join law firm Milbank as a partner in the firm’s white-collar defense practice, making gobs more money than he ever did in public service.

Carolyn Welshhans, one of his top deputies, is also leaving the agency to work at law firm Morgan Lewis, and also to make gobs of money.

Open Req Orders

Lear Corp., maker of seats and IT systems for automotive vehicles, is looking for an ethics and compliance manager for Europe and Africa. Job is based at Lear’s European headquarters in Spain; must be able to speak at least one European language or Arabic in addition to English.

TransUnion is looking for a manager of its whistleblower and conflicts of interest programs. Job can be based in Chicago, Atlanta, or a few other locations around the United States. Not so much as a whisper about salary or compensation in the job listing. #FrownUpon

And the World Bank has two jobs in its Istanbul offices: an anti-harassment and anti-discrimination counsel; and an ethics counsel. Both roles require fluency in English, French, and ideally Arabic too.
