This week we have a CCO departure from Energizer, new hires at Citibank and lots of other financial firms, numerous promotions across a range of industries, and more personnel gossip. Jobs leads are in higher education, medical devices, and financial services; and Meme of the Week goes out to the Compliance Hall of Shame!

Compliance Jobs

This week we begin with Circana, a market research firm, which just hired Ronnie Kann as its first-ever chief ethics and compliance officer. Kann joins the company after four years at Energizer Holdings, where he had been global head of ethics and compliance. Kann says he will be building out a global team at Circana in coming months; no word yet on who might succeed him at Energizer.

Citibank just hired Mark Catanese to be vice president of regulatory compliance business control. Catanese comes to Citi after eight years at PwC, most recently as a manager in the financial services advisory practice. One assumes he is part of the push to straighten out Citi’s regulatory compliance mess, which is being led by former PwC boss Tim Ryan

Lesley Heizman has joined Burns & McDonnell, a construction firm based in Kansas City, Mo., as senior IT compliance analyst. Heizman previously worked at Lucidworks for five years as manager of risk and compliance. 

In Paris, Adrien Delarue has joined Aria, a French payments firm; he’ll be compliance manager. Delarue previously worked at Manager.one, a French fintech firm for small businesses, as compliance and operations director. 

Compliance jobsKoray Ozturk has joined Trinasolar, a renewable energy firm, as head of risk management and compliance. Ozturk joins the company, which is headquartered in China but has a significant U.S. presence, from Universal Electronics, where he was vice president of global compliance.

Billogram, a cleverly named payments firm in Sweden, has hired Martin Hjärne as head of compliance. Hjärne previously was senior legal counsel at Lunar, a Danish financial services firm.

Bhavna Kachhawa has joined Ares Capital Management as associate vice president for compliance, working from India to manage Ares’ Asia business. Kachhawa comes to Ares after nine years at ICICI Bank, most recently as a principal officer dealing with anti-money laundering compliance.

Arab-African International Bank, based in Cairo, has hired Hafez Aboulazm as chief compliance officer. Aboulazm comes to the bank after 15 years at Banque du Caire, where most recently he had been head of group compliance and corporate governance.

The University of Toledo has hired Sheri Copanic as chief risk officer; she starts next week. Copanic comes to the university from NexCore Group, where she had been director of risk management.

Steve Goddard has joined Argenta, maker of animal healthcare products, as manufacturing compliance lead. Goddard comes to the Kansas City company from TriRx Pharmaceutical Services, where he had also been manufacturing compliance lead.

ING Bank has hired Esther Perez Sans as a compliance and ethics specialist, based in Spain. Sans previously worked for Banco Santander for six years, most recently as a compliance analyst in product governance and consumer protection.

And Summit Trail Advisors has hired Joseph Erigo as its next chief compliance officer. Erigo comes to the investment advisory firm ($20 billion in assets) from Rockefeller Capital Management, where he had also been chief compliance officer. 

Promotions

Ascent Global Logistics has promoted Sarah Evans from senior manager of carrier compliance to director of compliance.

Cloudflare has promoted Angel Muro from regional program manager for legal compliance to senior counsel for legal compliance. Based in Portugal, he works mostly on internal investigations and vetting suppliers across the EMEA region.

The Schaeffler Group, a German manufacturer, has given Nikolaj Laschko a new role; he had been regional compliance officer for Central and Eastern Europe; now he is regional compliance officer for Britain, the Nordics, and the Benelux countries. 

Aetna has promoted Raymond Jimenez from senior coordinator of complaints and appeals to business compliance analyst. Jimenez has been with Aeta for two years. 

American Family Insurance has promoted Joanne Kohls from licensing specialist to senior business compliance specialist. Kohls has been with AFI in various roles for 38 years!

Group 1001, another insurance firm, has made two promotions of note. Dan Healy has been promoted from chief audit executive to chief risk officer; and Mark McCallister has moved up from managing director for internal audit to chief internal auditor, succeeding Healy. 

Charles Schwab has promoted Nicole Davis from director of supervision and controls to director of the First Line risk management office. 

Inspired Villages, a builder of assisted living homes in Britain, has promoted Anna Sliwa from head of audit to head of audit and compliance. Sliwa has been with the firm for two years. 

Dell Technologies has promoted Benjamin Arldt from senior manager for North America trade compliance to senior manager for the entire Americas region. Arldt has been with Dell since 1998.

Alison Howell has moved up the ranks at Ericsson, from head of allegation management and compliance assurance to head of compliance global affairs.

Wells Fargo has promoted Donna Dockery from senior compliance associate to vice president and lead compliance officer. 

Modivcare, a healthcare services firm based in Colorado, has promoted Natalija Nunez from compliance supervisor to compliance manager. Nunez, based in Florida, has been with the firm for two years.

And Neelam MacLeod has a new job within the Cox Enterprises empire as senior manager for enterprise risk assessment and compliance. MacLeod has actually been with Cox since 2019, and previously worked in the company’s assurance and advisory services team. But working in compliance is way cooler.

Milestones

Lauren Rogers is celebrating one year at Regions Bank where she is senior vice president of corporate compliance.

Seth Cohen is celebrating five years at Alvarez & Marsal, where he is director of global compliance.

Edith Chambin is celebrating 10 years at real estate firm CBRE, where these days she is ethics and compliance director and head of the firm’s compliance ambassador program.

And Tonsin Umukoro just hit 20 years at Stryker! These days she is senior compliance officer for Europe, and based in the United Kingdom.

Open Req Orders

The University of Missouri system is looking for a chief audit and compliance officer. Job is based in Columbia, Mo.; no salary range provided.

Upgrade, a fintech startup that offers banking and payday loans, is looking for a head of internal audit. Job is based in San Francisco. Salary range is $275,00o to $340,000, plus bonus and equity. 

Medical equipment manufacturer Hollister is looking for a chief compliance officer. Job is based in suburban Chicago. No salary range provided, and a J.D. degree is required. #FrownUpon
