Compliance Jobs Report: Jan. 24
Lots of items as usual in the Compliance Jobs Report this week. A compliance officer is joining the board at TD Bank (good), plus new hires at Dentsply Sirona, Zimmer Biomet, RBC, Snyk, and other firms. We also have a ton of promotions to note, and job leads are in telecom, retail, and financial analysis. Meme of the week goes out to CCO liability!
Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.
We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at mkelly@radicalcompliance.com or find me on LinkedIn.
Compliance Jobs
This week we begin with TD Bank, still trying to recover from a massive anti-money laundering case brought against the bank late last year. TD just announced a slate of new directors for its board (hallelujah), and one of the nominees is Frank Pearn — previously global chief compliance officer at JP Morgan Chase, until Pearn retired last year. So that’s one more step in the right direction for TD, although many more steps remain ahead.
Dentsply Sirona, maker of professional dental equipment, has hired Fey Ali as senior compliance manager. Ali previously worked at Nervo, a medical equipment manufacturer, as a compliance manager. We’re sure she’s ready to bite into her new job.
Zimmer Biomet has hired Danilo Telles as a senior manager for the global compliance program, working from the firm’s Brazil offices. Telles joins Zimmer after six years at KPMG Brazil, where he had been a senior manager in the forensic services practice.
Diana Deen just turned up at Cathay Bank in Los Angeles as chief risk officer. Deen was last seen at BMO (otherwise known as Bank of Montreal) as head of operational risk and chief ethics and conduct officer until she left the bank in mid-2023.
Hypertec Group, a manufacturer of computer hardware, has hired Toni Ellis as director of corporate compliance. Ellis comes to the Quebec-based firm after three years at Medioh, where she was director of quality.
RBC (that’s Royal Bank of Canada) has hired Michael Aquino as senior manager for U.S. IT regulatory risk management. Aquino comes to RBC after a few years at Fiserv, where he most recently was a senior risk assurance professional.
Elena Hall has been hired by AstraZeneca as compliance assurance partner for North America. Hall previously worked at EthixBase360 for several years as senior manager of due diligence.
CCBank, a community bank in Utah, has hired Eugene Urry as vice president of compliance testing. Urry comes to the bank from FinWise Bank, where he had been director of compliance testing.
Jeanette Burbage has joined Deutsche Bank as a compliance testing and quality assurance analyst, working at Deutsche’s operations center in Jacksonville, Fla. Burbage comes to the bank from Bank of America, where she most recently had been a regulatory business operations officer.
Snyk, a network security firm in Boston, has hired Allie Fumicello as lead compliance manager. Fumicello was previously at Hubspot for nearly seven years, most recently as lead of the customer trust program.
Charlotte Lewis has joined the International Financial Group, a financial services firm in the Isle of Man, as group chief compliance officer. Lewis previously worked at Deloitte for five years as a director in its regulatory reporting practice; she’s also chair of the Isle of Man Society of Chartered Accountants.
And ZipCo, an Australian digital payments startup, has hired Angela Jerry as compliance manager for its U.S. operations. Jerry previously worked at Capital One for 12 years, most recently as “compliance innovation manager” (a lovely title).
Moving Up the Ladder
We’re still working through a flood of promotions, as one typically sees at the start of a new year. Congratulations to all…
American Express has promoted Martin Schaub from compliance director for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland to vice president and head of compliance for Germany and Austria.
BioCryst Pharmaceuticals has promoted Allison Sargent from senior manager of global compliance operations to associate director.
Citibank has promoted Derek Becker from vice president of broker-dealer governance and reporting to senior vice president of regulatory compliance.
Fifth Third Bank has promoted Stephen Ervin from financial crimes team lead to senior financial crimes team lead.
British construction firm Keller has promoted Sophia Murray from corporate counsel to corporate counsel and ethics & compliance officer. (As always, any time the words “ethics” or “compliance” are added to your title, that’s automatically a promotion in the Jobs Report’s eyes.)
L’Oreal has promoted Ashley Mahoney from senior manager for customs and trade compliance to director of the same.
Performance Food Group has promoted Glyn Smith from senior director of internal audit to vice president of internal audit.
Primetals Technologies has expanded the role of Patrick Henz from head of GRC to head of environmental, social, governance, risk, and compliance — so, head of ESGRC.
Public Partnerships, which provides financial services help to “self-directed care programs” under Medicare and Medicaid, has promoted Julihana Contois from senior compliance analyst to compliance manager.
Raymond James has promoted Eric Sisco from senior compliance adviser to regulatory change compliance manager.
Sherwin Williams has promoted Malaz Tibi from senior international supply chain specialist to senior procurement trade compliance specialist. (A company recognizing that procurement is becoming a compliance-related business function — I like seeing that.)
Varsity Brands has promoted Kristen Meeks from associate general counsel for compliance to deputy general counsel for compliance.
Verizon had promoted Geoffrey Fekany from audit team lead for technology to senior manager of risk and compliance.
Open Req Orders
Ericsson is hiring a compliance counsel. Job can be based in either Washington, D.C., or New York City. Must have a valid law license, and the salary range is listed at $270,000 to $300,000.
The CFA Institute is looking for a head of professional conduct and enforcement. Job is based in Charlottesville, Va., with a salary range listed at $210,000 to $240,000. The good news: you don’t need to be a CFA yourself to apply. The bad: this job has been listed for more than a month, and recently re-advertised. Not sure what that means.
TJX Cos. is looking for an ESG reporting manager. Job is based in suburban Boston, with salary range listed at $99,000 to $129,000.
