Compliance Jobs Report: Jan. 31

The Compliance Jobs Report this week has new hires to note at Avanos Medical, TD Bank, Palo Alto Networks, Honeywell, and many more. We also have promotions at BNY, Cash App, and elsewhere; plus job leads in banking, defense contracting, and the best engineering school in the world. Meme of the Week goes out to M&A due diligence!

Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.

We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at mkelly@radicalcompliance.com or find me on LinkedIn.

Compliance Jobs

This week we start with a Jonathan Turner sighting: the former chief compliance officer at Zoll Medical, who left that role at the end of December, has resurfaced at Avanos Medical, a medical equipment manufacturer in Atlanta; Turner will be chief ethics and compliance officer. He succeeds Michelle Scharfenberg, who had been CCO since 2020 and left Avanos after closing out a deferred-prosecution agreement there.

As for Zoll, word is that Ariadna Quesada will hold down the fort as interim head of compliance and privacy. She has been with Zoll since 2021 and is head of privacy, governance, and compliance for the EMEA region.

Kateryna Voina has a new job working for Honeywell, as director of anticorruption compliance for the EMEA region. Voina previously worked at Ericsson for nearly four years as a regional compliance officer in Europe.

Another week, another announcement from TD Bank as it keeps building out its (vastly understaffed) regulatory compliance team. This week the bank announced that it has promoted Jacqueline Sanjuas from U.S. head of financial crime risk management to global head of financial crime risk management. Sanjuas joined TD one year ago after nearly 20 years at Citibank, ending there as chief compliance officer for AML and Bank Secrecy Act compliance. She succeeds Herb Mazariegos, who “will be leaving the bank.”

Palo Alto Networks has hired Catherine Razzano as global ethics and compliance leader. Razzano previously spent three years at TikTok as head of global legal compliance.

Timothy Shannon has joined Argenx as senior manager of U.S. compliance. Shannon comes to the biotech firm (doing immunology work) from Bluebird Bio, when he had been senior compliance associate.

Piraeus Bank, one of the largest banks in Greece, is reshuffling a few of its risk assurance functions. First, chief compliance officer Argiri Kasapaki is stepping away from that role to be a management adviser. Succeeding her as CCO is Panagiotis Tsoukatos, the bank’s current chief audit executive. And Piraeus has hired Andreas Anastasiou to succeed Tsoukatos as chief audit executive. Anastasiou comes to the bank from Intercontinental Exchange, where he has been head of audit for the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions.

Scintilla, a digital payments startup based in Dubai, has hired Janey Schueller as chief compliance officer. Schueller comes to the firm, which says it is “on a mission to lead the world in delivering digital solutions to address the existing inequalities, inefficiencies and illiquidity,” from MidChains, some crypto play based based in Abu Dhabi, where she was head of compliance.

Financial services firm Marex has hired Alexandre de Oliveira as chief compliance officer, working at the firm’s Brazil offices. De Oliveira joins Marex from ActivTrades, a Brazilian financial services firm, where he had been chief risk, compliance, and cybersecurity officer.

Charan Beemanapalli has joined Bristol Myers Squibb as senior manager for audit analytics and artificial intelligence, working from BSM’s Indian operations center. Beemanapalli previously worked at IFDC First Bank, where he had been senior risk manager for data, strategy, and policy.

Ekta Moorjani has joined Lamb Weston, the potato and french fry giant, as international internal audit manager; she’s based in the Netherlands. Moorjani comes to the Idaho-based company from STX Group, where she had been internal audit and controls lead.

Cooley (yes, the law firm Cooley; law firms have GRC employees too) has promoted Jay Robinson from senior information governance compliance coordinator to information governance compliance lead.

Jennifer Konschake has joined Beam Benefits (the insurance firm in Ohio, not the booze company everywhere) as compliance manager. Konschake previously worked at UnitedHealth Group for nine years as senior regulatory affairs specialist.

In the food world, health food maker GNC has hired Julia Goettemoeller as a Level II regulatory compliance specialist. Goettemoeller comes to GNC from Abbott, where she had been a senior regulatory specialist for the last year.

Lewis County Health System, a hospital system in upstate New York, has hired Jennifer Wendel as corporate compliance officer. Wendel comes to LCHS from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Chautauqua, where she most recently had been compliance and privacy officer.

Global payments providers Loomis has hired Ana López Martínez as director of legal and compliance risk. Martínez, based in Spain, joins Loomis from Urbaser, a Spanish environmental services firm, where she had been the EMEA compliance officer.

Nextracker, a renewable energy business in California, has hired Maria Casablanca as senior compliance counsel. Casablanca comes to the firm after four years at SAP, most recently as a regional compliance officer.

Fresenius Medical Care has moved Angela Schledz from head of continuous improvement reviews to head of global internal control testing. She’s based in Germany.

Marsh Asia, the regional subsidiary of insurance giant Marsh McLennan, has promoted Hien Tran from vice president of technology and operations in Vietnam to head of internal controls for all of Asia.

And French luxury giant Hermès has hired Vanja Božić as internal controller for the company’s finance department. She joins the fashion house from Ernst & Young, where she had been a financial services consultant in Paris. One assumes the staff are much more stylishly dressed at her new employer.

Moving Up the Ladder

17Capital has promoted Jack Mathew from senior counsel to chief compliance officer.

BNY has promoted Madison Gray from director of investments compliance to senior director.

Cash App (fresh off a regulatory settlement for poor security and customer service practices) has promoted Maria Del Roccio Del Valle from compliance specialist to sanctions compliance analyst.

The Daily Group, the largest retail business in Georgia (the country, not the state), has promoted Tamar Melashvili from head of internal audit for its grocery operations to head of internal control for the whole business.

Eye Speciality Group has promoted Olivia Simmons from health informatics and compliance manager to health informatics and compliance director.

Highridge Medical has promoted Toni Dahms from senior paralegal and privacy officer to compliance manager (and privacy officer).

Hancock Whitney Bank, a regional consumer bank along the Gulf of Mexico, is looking for a chief internal auditor. Job is based in Gulfport, Miss.; no salary range provided.
