Compliance Jobs Report: April 4
Tariffs may be putting the world through the blender, but the Compliance Jobs Report marches on. This week we have news from Novartis, Northeastern University, IBM, Fannie Mae, Sutter Health, Vanguard, and more. We also have another compliance consulting firm launched; job leads in social services, online payments, and medical devices; plus Meme of the Week!
Always remember that we need your help to make the Report work, so send me some news! You can easily find updates from your LinkedIn contacts by visiting the My Network tab on your own profile and then checking the Stay in Touch option at the top of that page.
We also take any other gossip you might have, even confidentially. If you have a tip to pass along, email me at mkelly@radicalcompliance.com or find me on LinkedIn.
Compliance Jobs
This week we start with Northeastern University, which just hired Ben Bard as vice president of audit and advisory services. Bard comes to Northeastern (go Huskies!) after 11 years at Archer Daniels Midland, where he most recently had been global chief compliance officer and audit executive.
Next is IBM, which just hired Indrani Franchini as chief compliance officer. Franchini had previously been chief compliance officer at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals in Boston until last summer; she’s also a board director at Avanos Medical.
Meanwhile, word on the street is that Nancy Jardini has been fired as chief ethics and compliance officer at Fannie Mae, as part of a larger house-cleaning from Bill Pulte, newly confirmed director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. (The FHFA oversees Fannie.) Jardini had been CCO at Fannie Mae since 2007, and is one of the OGs of corporate ethics and compliance.
Changing of the guard at Novartis, where chief compliance officer Klaus Moosmayer has announced that he is leaving after six years in the role. What’s next for Moosmayer: he’s up for election to Deutsche Bank’s supervisory board next month. What’s next for Novartis: the company says that chief legal officer Karen Hale will assume his CCO duties. As a matter of principle Radical Compliance frowns upon dual GC-CCO roles, but Hale did serve as CCO of AbbVie in the 2010s so she does know the terrain.
Jalanna McNab has been hired by Sutter Health as deputy chief ethics and compliance officer. McNab comes to Sutter after more than 15 years at LifePointHealth, the last five of those years as vice president of ethics and compliance.
Sage Home Loans Corp. in Charlotte, N.C., has hired Ben Purser as head of enterprise risk. Purser had previously been at Guaranteed Rate, where he had been head of servicing risk.
Jamie Larmond has joined TechnipFMC as senior compliance counsel. Larmond comes to the oil & gas services giant from Wood, where she had been legal compliance adviser.
In Scandinavia, Thomas Blomgren reports that he is leaving Swedish financial services firm Permian, where he had been senior legal counsel since the end of 2022. Next up: Blomgren is moving to Norway to join Nordea, where he will be a senior compliance officer. Blomgren worked at Nordea in the early 2020s so this is a homecoming for him.
Casey Moon is leaving Galen Medical Group, where she held various compliance and privacy roles since 2018. Most recently, Moon had been acting compliance and privacy officer. Moon says she will be “recharging and spending some much needed time with family” until she decides what to do next. We should all do that from time to time.
RAC WA, Western Australia’s equivalent to the American Automobile Association, has hired William Aitken as a partner in its risk and compliance operations team. Aitken previously worked at Commonwealth Bank as a senior regulatory engagement manager.
Allison Carlson has joined ScionHealth as a regional compliance director. Carlson comes to Scion after three years at DaVita Kidney Care, where she had been director of compliance.
Vallourec North America, maker of pipelines “premium tubular solutions” for the oil and gas industry, has hired Christine Chaney as compliance officer. Chaney joins Vallourec after 12 years at Superior Energy Services, where most recently she was vice president of ethics and compliance.
Otis Elevator has hired Carolina Gonzalez as senior manager for ethics and compliance, working for the company in London. Gonzalez previously worked at Accenture as senior legal counsel for corporate investigations.
Kaj Samsom is giving up his job as chief auditor of National Life Group, an insurance business based in Vermont., to take a job as commissioner in that state’s Department of Financial Regulation. Samsom previously worked for the state as tax commissioner in the 2010s.
Jodie Johnson Rios is retiring after 16 years at BNSF Railway, most recently as IT senior auditor for corporate audit services.
Don Turnblade is retiring after 10 years at State Farm, where he had been a GRC analyst.
And Remember Holli Lewis, chief compliance officer for Brown-Forman until 2023? She just turned up at Valvoline Global Operations as associate general counsel (after a brief stint as general counsel Packsize in 2023 and 2024).
Moving Up the Ladder
AbbVie has promoted Mariette Cutler from compliance business partner to manager of the enterprise third-party risk management office.
A new role for Andrew Daniels at Astellas Pharmaceuticals. Daniels had been vice president of global excellence and transformation for ethics and compliance; as of this month, he’s now chief of staff to the general counsel and CCO.
Endeavor Health has promoted Cody Roering from compliance analyst to team lead for records compliance.
Allstate has promoted Natasha Colucci from systems compliance manager to lead consultant for state cybersecurity regulatory compliance.
Vanguard has promoted Christina Selby from head of operational enablement to chief audit executive.
Vendors and Service Providers
And another compliance consulting firm is born unto the world! Carl Hahn, previously chief ethics and compliance officer at Northrop Grumman, has teamed up with Matt Galvin, previously data analytics guru at the Fraud Section of the Justice Department. They just launched a boutique consulting firm Gentic Global Advisors, based in Washington.
Open Req Orders
Vinfen, a large social services agency in Boston, is hiring a director of compliance and lead auditor. Job is based in Cambridge, Mass., with a salary range of $150,000 to $160,000.
Bill.com (online payments processor) is looking for a senior compliance program manager to run its anti-money laundering efforts. Job can be based in any of several major U.S. cities, with a salary range of $111,000 to $164,000 depending on said city.
Orthofix is looking for a vice president of internal audit. Job can be remote, although the company is headquartered in suburban Dallas. No salary range listed; phooey on them.
